Work In Progress
^ Yessss!
Hope surgery went well and recovery is on track! Bet you enjoyed the company...and food! Had the same sort of thing last night; family friends came over and we all made pizza. Damn was it delicious, but I'm feeling the carb bloat this morning. Can't wait for Saturday bike ride tomorrowDamn... fighting it a bit.
Wife had surgery and one kiddo came home to help two weeks ago. I enjoyed some regular meals and ate bread and butta! Loved it, but damn if it didn't bite me.
Filtered up 3lbs in a few days. Spent the last 10 days widdling it down. Still not quite back to 225, but feel like I have lost more. Hopefully a little muscles as my exercise #'s have gone up.
Now 6 to lose by Hawthorne in one month to meet my goal.
Doing more stretching but that fused vert in the back refuses to abide.

Eat and Hydrate!!!! Like, ALOT!!! Setting out on a big ride is a buzz. I hope your buddy knows this probably shouldn’t be a threshold ride. Do you have a heart rate monitor or sports watch? So I wrangled my buddy into a long, for me, ride tomorrow morning. He’s a cyclist and former triathlete that lives in Truckee. He’s basically gonna kick my ass but my wife wanted someone to go with me on such a long fairly remote ride. Anyway our ride will be from Foresthill to Robinsons Flat, 27 miles one way with 4k of elevation gain. Then it’s 27 miles downhill all the way back. 54 miles will be my longest ride to date and I’m excited.
Maybe you should get a SPOT or something so you can kind of text her you are alright and if needed help can get to you faster assuming these long remote solo rides are something you do often. So I wrangled my buddy into a long, for me, ride tomorrow morning. Hell YES! It's glorious when anything flows. It's also weird how something will feel foreign or not good, and then a week later it's like "Oh, this is easy!"I had a really good evening in the pool last night. After a solid block of mostly cycling I have spent the last few weeks trying to get my swim body back. I haven’t felt that comfortable I the water for at least a year. Until that swim I was laboring through sets of 250 yards and doing 2k per workout. Last night though everything was clicking. Its awesome when swimming feels easy. I didn’t start that workout thinking there was anyway I could do a 1000 yard set. After 3 500’s I was able to just roll through a 1000. Im not particularly fast, I don’t flip turn and “real” swimmers do much more impressive workouts. But damn, when a session feels good it can really lift your spirits. Keep pushing gang. Good days do come and they are worth the tough ones.
Interesting to me, I actually got about an hour and a half “extra” sleep the night before that good swim. I really struggled to get more than 5 hours of sleep per night. I have tried all the things. It seems like dumb luck if i get 6-7 hrs in a night.

Maybe today is the day for an exercise “snack.” Don’t worry about a program or a metric. Just move for 20-30 minutes in a way that makes smile. Ego lift? Basketball shoot around? Long walk with the S.O.? Anything to keep you off the couch after work for a little while. Move, recover, get back on your program when you’re feeling better.Well day four was shit. Got stuck on a work call until 10:30pm so no gym for me. Should be leaving work early today so may try and make up for missing yesterday but time will tell still kind of burnt from last night.
I usually swim more in the winter. Short days limit after work rides and runs. Simpkins family swim center is my local community pool. Outdoor and heated. If you have a community pool near you I highly recommend getting back into it bud. Swimming is an exercise you can do well into you golden years. I see those folks all the time and look fit and happy.Swimming is the best. During the lockdown did a ton and it was so great. Winter killed it because I could not afford to heat the pool.
Since moved and that big ass overhead ($$) is gone.
