Moto Hauling Van

Actually, a minivan would be a good option- I know a few people who've taken the back seats out to have room for a bike, tools, gear, and a place to crash when at the track. The biggest advantages are that your bikes, gear, tools, etc can all be locked up (as opposed to sitting out in a truck when you're stopped). You will also get better mileage in a van than a truck, and generally, minivans are owned by families with kids, and they tend to do the maintenance on them, to keep the kidlets safe. Get yourself a twin size air mattress, and you'll be able to sleep very comfortably at the track.

I saw a guy bring his ninjette in a minivan though he did have to take off the front cowel to make it fit. I was thinking an actual van might be better since it would have more room and be easier to secure the bike

Minivan. When I bought my CBR1000RR I transported it in a rented Toyota minivan:

I would recommend a 1999 or newer Honda Odyssey. If you do a search on autotrader.com for ones under $5000 you get hundreds of hits.

That's actually quite awesome. Sure its low on the list Ninja 250 > All motorcycles > Sports Car > Truck > Van > Minivan but it'll do. I'll add it to my search

I have no van recommendations, but I can say that:

be prepared to get pulled over A LOT! cops feel that its a necessity to pull over conspicuous vans without windows and have a peek around. how do i know you ask? i was the pilot of a beautifl 1972 ford econoline equipped with shag carpet, wood paneling, a CB radio/PA system, 3 speed manual gearbox, racing steering wheel and an 8 track player.

i never raped anyone in my van, but thats only because you cant rape the willing

id suggest getting one, as long as you never drink and drive or smoke the herb because they are cop magnets as well. youve been warned by an expert
is spot-on truth. As a teenager I routinely used my father's van, and my experience was pretty much the same as that of kelsodeez. I became very-well-acquainted with how to behave as the subject of a felony stop.

I had one of those 'special' vans back in the mid to late 70's.

All I'm gonna say about it is, I'm glad the damn things can't talk or I'd be in a world of hurt.

Bought it from the PG&E auction, made curtains for the windows, put fat T/A radials and chrome deep dish moon wheels on it, carpet, the refrigerator and sink unit from a VW, cassette and quality bookshelf speakers, glasspack muffler in place of stock and that old slant six sounded like a V8.

Popped a Hurst shift grip on the tranny selector for effect.

Good times. :)

Oh please, never, ever post pics of said classy willing poontang, m'kay? The thought of such exquisite elegance gracing these pages, gives me the shivers.

I've had my 2005 Ford 6.0 diesel van for almost eight years. It's very reliable. It hauls ass. Nothing has ever slowed it down. I once towed a two axle enclosed trailer with five bikes inside over the Grapevine without any problems. It's the extended version. It's got a wall and a second row bench seat that folds out into a bed. I can fit three full size dirt bikes inside in a pinch. It only gets around 15 mpg but I don't drive it every day either. It's only got a bit over 40,000 miles on it as well.

I've never had any issues with this vehicle and the police.

Turbo Diesel Sprinter

+1
look for the 04-06. they are simpler and get better mileage than the 07 on. should be able to get close to $5000 for a high mileage unit. would still be reliable. more room than any other thing out there. not big on power though.

wow had no idea my van was still worth so much. they are selling for more than I paid 3 years ago.

need to look at the 02-03 then.

http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3798135

they dont haul ass and I would not tow more than a couple thousand pounds. that is the trade off to get in to the 25-28 mpg range. and did I mention you get more room.

I love my 08 sprinter but it only gets 22mpg on average. more to maintain as well than the 02-06 sprinters. look around you should be able to hit your price range.

Damn, it gets better mileage than my sedan :laughing

I have the new Nissan NV high roof and I have Sprinter owners (who apparently had a less than glowing owner experience) asking me regularly about mine. It would be a awesome track van.Way better driving experience than my E-350. Unfortunately no extended version so about 10' behind the seats max..
That said, the Ford Transit van like shown in the video (not that little front wheel drive unit they currently sell) will be coming to a Ford dealer near you as this was the last year for the E-series vans. They no longer meet the safety standards are being fazed out.
By the way, I was once asked by a school bus driver the kids wanted to know if I had any bodies in the back :wtf.....:laughing
