There is some serious vitriolic spewing on this topic (MotoGP FB page) and I have to say...

What does it matter who sponsors the team?
Whether you like or (apparently, the majority) DISLIKE her - I can't imagine a more high profile and odd pairing to that ought to get more PR to the sport.

The team will compete and win or fail on the strengths of it's members and she has the $ to spend. I'm sure there riders and mechanics and support crew out there willing to be "Team Paris".

team claims Moto125 but rider looks like a lesser contestant......

Sergio Gadea has finished 5th in 125 twice so, with his Moto2 experience, he should be able to do that again if not better now that he will be back in 125cc.

Overall, any time anyone is going to throw money into racing, I'm all for it. I don't care who they are. If she gets some screen time, I'm fine with that as well since it can do nothing but bring in new fan (not likely but possible).

Seriously though, we saw Banderas all of what, 3 times on screen so I don't expect we'll see her out there.

If you'd read the articles you would have seen the answer to that question. One of the news blurbs mentions that she was contracted by the title sponsor to make appearances, as she is already working with that sponsor at events in Spain, and once she learned more about it she got really excited about the prospect and decided to invest in the team.

The more I think about this the more excited it makes me. Maybe Bill Gates will want to sponsor a Moto2 team in the near future. (the issue would be that while the bike would always be on pole the rider would have to stop three times and reboot his ECU during the race.)
