Motocross boots for street riding

Anyone wear their motocross boots on the street. I considered exchanging my new and never used Alpinestar Tech 8's for Sidi Adventure Rain's but instead just went ahead and started using the Tech 8's for enduro stuff.
I thought they might be able to double as street boots but are so stiff and heavy. I don't remember street boots being like this when new.
So any barfer's ripping the backroads in their tech8's?
 
Tech tens. I like 'em, although they may not be as safe as a street boot... Haven't been down in them yet on the street, will report back...

^^^ why would they not be as safe as street boots, I would have thought they would be safer but more uncomfortable.
 
I dunno, just a wild guess. I'll bet if I was really cookin' when I went down they'd grind through. Good thing my xr's only geared for 100ish max:laughing

They were uncomfortable/stiff until I removed the torsion bars from the inner booties, and they still took a good year to break in, but they're awesome now. I can wear 'em all day, days in a row, no problem.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't rock some appropriate boots...
 
I rocked Oxtar Supermoto boots on my dual sport and motard and loved them. Didn't work too well on streetbikes though.

edit: they're basically MX boots with soles that are attached with velcro
 
I wear MX boots on the street, but I ride a dirt bike. I'm not sure how well they'd work on a sport bike.
 
I tried on Tech 8 yesterday and it felt like having cast on - I couldn't feel my legs/feet. I don't know if I could ride with those on the street. Then I tried on Sidi Adventure, which seemed much more suitable for street and light-duty dual sport riding; I think I'll get those.
 
neither are real motocross boots but good for dual sport rides , commutes, and light offroad stuff....

I wear the Sidi Discovery which is very comfortable..

alpinestar scout is also good, altho a bit bulkier than the sidi...

I wear my Fox Trackers in the rain. I'd rather trash them then my Sidi street boots even if they are bulky.
 
mx boots take some time before they break in and soften up a bit
 
Wouldn't hesitate to wear my formas on a supermoto. Could be clearence issues on a sprotbile.
 
I wear my Diadora Stones. They are a trials boot, so more flexi and comfy that a motocross boot. Got it on recommendation from the guys at Scuderia, and been very very happy with them. I can forget they are on, and they have saved my feet at least once already.

I occasionally wear Alpinestar vectors on my speed triple and wear my tech 8's when I ride my supermoto, they are heavy and stiff but I can feel the controls through them fine.
 
Keep the info coming. I'm due for some new boots and looking for something more versatile than track boots.
 
I wear MX boots when riding the DRZ... I can't wear them on any of my sportbikes though, just isn't comfortable.

Reissues? I still have the "real McCoys" from when I was riding dirt a bazillion years ago in the 80's... :laughing Great boots- they saved me from a broken leg.

I have a pair of Tech 8's. Totally incompatible with the R1, you can't use the shifter!

I use them on the KLR on the street on very long trips as they are waterproof, and I figure long trips increase my chance of going down so I'll wear extra protection.

However, they make my feet numb (can't feel the brake and miss shifts) and make it harder to move around on the bike in a way appropriate for the street. This means they don't work so well for canyon carving. I completely forget they are there in the dirt, but on the street they cramp my style.

In a crash I can't imagine anything better; they have armor up the wazoo. It's true they are designed for offroad, but they seem a good bit tougher than my street boots, and are taller and more rigid.

They suck to walk around in though, which makes using them for commuter duty a pain.
 
I don't think my dirtbike boots would work very well :(
