MOTOGP 2012 Final Preseason IRTA test, Jerez. 3/23-3/25

Poor Preziosi, that dude has had to be under a huge amount of stress for the past year, and it doesn't look like that'll change for a while. Rossi's arrogance and ego got him into this situation, Prez's ignorance did. Same thing really.

not sure if it was prez's ignorance as much as his direction. if JB is to be believed, he didnt do much to address the shortcommings of the bike while just continuing to develpe the good stuff. which lead to essentially an achillies heel for them.

in the end, the ducati decision may go down as one of the worst ever. for both sides(except for casey lol)

im saving any real judgement until qatar, but if they are still far behind, its over. this is a test, and maybe they reallt are just TESTING, but the gap is huge already. I doubt theyre finding an entire second but who knows. I hope I am wrong, but the stars are beginning to align towards a rough riugfh year,. sepang I was a giood sign, after that, ug not so much. if rossi and duc cant get it together this year, it may be the start of the end for both of them in GP.

I wonder a lot about ducati because in the 990 days their bike was kickass.

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 6th, 1:40.512 (77 laps)

“After missing the test at Valencia and having to do damage control in Malaysia, where I wasn’t strong, especially at the first test, it was nice to be able to get back on the bike today and feel close to 100 per cent physically. I felt good here and I was able to ride all day and finish sixth, which isn’t bad even if the gap is obviously still too big. We got off to a nice start, but we didn’t improve enough, while the guys ahead of us continued to make progress. It’s a little frustrating, although we gathered a lot of data by being able to ride all day without trying a million different things, and we have some good ideas for tomorrow. Of course our goal is to get closer to the leaders, especially with the lap time.”

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 9th, 1:40.920 (64 laps)

“We solved some things today, but not one important thing, which is corner entry, especially in the fastest part of the turn. I’m not able to be incisive there, and it’s where most of our gap comes from. I can’t load the front enough to enter fast, so I don’t carry enough speed through the corner, and that’s why we’re far from the front. We found a more promising setting toward the end and I was able to repeat my fast time with a tyre that was very used, but it was already 5:30 and the temperature had dropped, so we decided to start working on it again tomorrow because we think there’s a margin. Nicky went better today, and we also have to reduce the gap.”

Instead of first world problems, Casey has first place problems.

hahahahaha

He talked alot of trash about Honda, They may not want to give him a bike. I would say a better bet is he forms his own team with JB and gets a Yamaha. He finishes out his career there, wins waves to the fans at a few races and then runs the team with JB.
FTFY

Funny, Kevin. And probably not too far off. I bet he wants to slide INTO the corner and can't control the slide, if it's jumping around.

To not know something is ignorance, therefore, all problems are caused by ignorance, including Prez's poor direction and not addressing the concerns of the riders.

It certainly was, and to some degree might still be, a matter of resources and testing time. With more money and engineers, he could work through the problems faster and try more things out. A highly unfortunate mix of circumstances that left Prez with not enough money or time the last few years, now at least we know he'll have the time, thanks to the open testing. All might not be lost, we'll have to wait for the first quarter of the season to see.

It also had tires specially built for it and no single rider doing exceptionally well on it. Stoner's talent held Ducati's progress back. If everyone had said and proved it was shit, they would have had to change a lot earlier. It's a peculiar and sad thing, that such seemingly good fortune and great success, can ultimately lead to a tragic and bitter downfall, like Marco.

If Rossi bails on Ducati...

...who exactly would ride for them after that? Desperate young guys who can't get a ride any other way? Where does that leave Duc in the grand scheme? Leaving MotoGP?

Not hard to imagine Duc leaving GP. Kawi was a larger company and with such poor results it would be hard to justify continuing to dump big bucks. Maybe they will change the rules on engines allowed by CRT teams and Duc will provide motors to frame designers for a better package.

:dunno

It leaves them in the same position as Suzuki. A bike for a rider to prove that if they can show some sort of skill on a wayward bike, maybe the powers that be for the good bikes will scope them up to give them a chance on something that isn't a shipwreck.

Alvaro Bautista, I'm looking at you.

But I don't think they will leave as long as Mr. Morris is footin' that bill.

Interesting to read Rossi STILL isn't comfortable with his position on the bike, still isn't with a good seating position and doesntvfeelmlike he's in the right spot. How can this most basic of an issue, still be an issue?

The elusive cool side of pillow effect but in a motorcycle context. No wonder he's frustrated.

I am not jumping ship yet...(it's not a cruise ship after all).. It'd be nice if he is up where he is capable of riding, but the Ducati is a tough bike to get sorted and he is still under a testing umbrella in a situation he enjoys. Cards close to his chest, and people second guessing him. We'll see come Qualifying/Racing just how good or bad the bike is. :dunno

Is the Audi deal hinging on race results? maybe Audi is already paying Rossi unbeknownst to Ducati as a bargaining strategy? Ancient Astronaut Theorists believe this to be true. :rofl
