What a weird QP. Rossi is WAY way off pace. I hope they figure something out for tomorrow. That's, again, a lot of spots to make up.

In the exact same spot in exact same manner as his teammate Rossi earlier. Shared data! :p

Two weird crashes, front tucks under braking when the bike is still mostly upright. And a long hustle back to the garage.

Bautista done good, nobody saw that coming.
Well, I did, because I was talking about the Yamahas being better. It fits. Just like Cal crashing out, when I say he will show that he deserves the Honda ride. Geez. It's like a curse, I tell ya' what.

Could Bradl get promoted from LCR? I just don't think Dani can be champion. And I don't know if anyone not riding a Yamaha that can take Lorenzo.

Honda is requesting the rookie rule be change so they can get marquez up faster, and because putting marquez on a satellite team has many problems with crew orientation.

the bradley smith deal is a major fuckup unless he can do something magical on a motogp bike that he can't with 2 years on a moto 2 bike.

So if they don't get rid of rookie rule for marquez, who deserves the 2nd honda seat most? bautista?

Damn, Rossi's crash sure was interesting. I would REALLY love to see the telemetry behind that one. Doesn't look like he did anything unusual. Would need to see video of each entry in to that corner. Pushing on the brakes like that wasn't going to get him any extra time..

didn't see the crash, but seems sounds like the same old shit. unexpected front end slips, no confidence in the front. a lack of understanding how and why the bike does what it does...

new engine at laguna. if that doesnt solve it, hes gone.

rossi to gresini, nicky to tech trois. I love ducati, I love the bikes and the company and all, but it may be time their riders move on. I mean fuck, how ling has nicky been there now? what could he have been doing? Ive said it a few times and Ill keep sayng it, I wanna see nicky, factory paniagale, wsbk.

Hmmm, I like the sound of that. He'd do well there I think. Lot of ecitement surrounding getting the 1199 into competition.

Back to the Honda seat, If they can't change the rule, then it's a one year deal. That could put Bautista or Bradl in the seat. Cal seems sufficiently disgusted with Tech3 that he could end up there also. It's gonna be fun to watch and see what develops; there is still a lot of season left.

im not even really sure why cal is so upset with tech three. dude its been five races, and he is demanding a factory bike next year. I think dovi snagging that podium kinda put a fire under him, because he knows the fight is on now. but lets be real cal, you havent earned that factory bike yet. certainly not a repsol honda seat. I like cal, a lot, but he needs to realize he's been beaten by his teammate three races in a row now. you want that factory seat? beat dovi. hes a factory rider, hes your target. hes on the same damned bike as you, and is a former factory guy. beat him, straight up, regularly, and you deserve the shot.

Can't see any GP rider on a GP bike going to WSBK. I see Hayden going to a satelite Honda and Rossi getting a Factory bike of some sort. I have a feeling Spies with either stay with Factory Yam or even make the jump to Honda if the Rookie rule isn't lifted, with a one year deal.

Hayden had problems in the same corner. Spies also had to stand it up, there. But Rossi's down was instant.

I have had two crashes similar to Rossi's whoops. Very surprising, to say the least. Could it be that one brake side grabbed just a bit sooner or harder than the other? I am pretty certain that one of mine was because of something along those lines.

He was already trail braking. Looks like the tire just gave up.

Yep, Cal crashing and out for the weekend pretty much ruined his shot at going factory.

The question around Nicky is a good one. Why is he hiding out in MotoGP doing NOTHING? Well, I would have to guess that he has pretty much given up on winning. At this point it is his job and he is paid well to do it, so he is going to do it. For as long as he can. I would rather be 1st in WSBK instead of a 6th in MotoGP. Granted WSBK has a pretty stacked field and Nicky would prob get his ass handed to him there these days..

Damn, just watched Nicky crash on his run. Same as Rossi, but a little worse tumble.

Gotta remember, these Ducati's are best in the cooler weather. They must have had a team meeting and said lets go for it!

My guess is that they both bottomed out.

That's like asking a professional baseball player on a bad team, to go back down to the minors and play for the the top team down there.

BTW Cal wasn't going to get a factory ride unless he started finishing on the box every race. Word is he needs to be cleared but track doc's to race tomorrow and he's trying to.

Agreed and Agreed.

A good test is that I'd rather get 5th place in MotoGP than 5th in WSBK. But I would rather WIN, than get 5th, too. Nicky has ZERO chance of winning while he is with Ducati, that is a FACT. However, if they took him to WSBK, he would have a good chance of winning there..

I would rather be last in MotoGP then first in WSBK.

Nick is doing better then last.

Going back to the baseball reference, would you rather be the worst player on a bad team of a pro team, or a good player on a good lower level team?

Odds of making a return to the top class, near zero.

I finish dead last in my races every month on inferior equipment in the Expert class. I have no interest in scoring points in the novice class.

And Dovi had 70 races on the almighty Honda, one pole position. How impressive. He's already shown what he can do with the best equipment in MotoGP, and it was rather uninspiring. He's a teflon rider, nobody's attention sticks to him.

It's Cal's turn. He was given nothing to be where he's at, he took the long way to get here. Didn't know the layout of some of the GP circuits til last year. Made a huge performance jump from rook to sophomore this season. A no-BS working man, hard as nails.

So exhibit A is a rider who has already had the luxury of top-notch equipment, and did not do anything to stand out from the crowd. Exhibit B is a rider on the way up, who has not had the good equipment yet.

Cal's turn! :thumbup

I think youre missing the point entirely. if dovi is so lackluster as you say, and cal STILL CANT BEAT HIM, why the hell does he desreve a factory ride? if cal isnt evcen the best rider on his team, why should he get a promotion? what cal needs to do, is actually earn what is the second most coveteted ride in the paddock. and you dont earn it by losing to a guy on the same exact equipment as you. simply put, cal is not as god as dovi right now. if he isnt as good as a guy you think isnt very good, why should he get thew shot? if dovi is so "meh', and cal is so good and deserves the shot, why is it that dovi has beaten him three times on the bounce, once for a podium, ona bike hes only ridden a handful of time, after getting surgery? Im not saying dovi deserves the repsol spot, but Im not saying cal does either(yet). I have a feeling cal may be left out in the cold this sily season...

you make my case completelt, although totally unintentionally.

as for cal be given nothing, thats just utter and compete bullshit. the guy got promoted to the best sat team in the squad, on a bike numerous riders were offering to ride for free, with very littyle in the way of track record or accomplishment. now, as jop said, hes certaionly proved hes worthy of it, but to ay he wasnt goiven anything is total ignorance

You mean like when Cal kicked Dovi's ass twice already this year? :laughing

Ooh lookie, Mr Big Shot Factory Honda guy, losing to someone who was riding around in 10th place last year as a clueless rookie just trying to learn the tracks. Yup, that Dovi guy got skills. He's definitely factory bike material. :p

And now Cal is hurt, he'll make a go at it but don't think his result will be too good at Silverstone. But all he needs is a few points to repass his teammate because Dovi will crash out. :x
