Valentino and Hayden run 1-2 in wet session one with Val less than a tenth ahead. With quite a gap behind them which is promising as Sunday should be wet.

In DRY session 2 Val falls to 11th while Nicky stays in his ussual 4th for silverstone.
Casey, Spies, Alvaro, Nicky.....

it wasnt really a dry session. It started out dry, then rained in the middle, then the sun came back out with heavy winds. it was dry wet dry.

Hell - Rossi was 2.3 or so off the pace in FP2, and even he's not that bad at this point. Clearly something else was at play there - didn't look like he was really trying. Can say the same for Lorenzo in FP1 as well. If its nasty, don't risk race day by possibly binning it in a practice session.

cant decide if i want this to be dry or wet. i can see interesting possibilities either way

To hell with Donnington - I wish they raced at Cadwell.

Johnny Rea, getting it done.

Who will be the first person to whip a superbike???

predictions for "after"?

in the wet, 69 for the win - after outside pass on 46

in the dry, George - after Pedro spears Stoner

in mixed conditions, Pies - after employing a no tire/bike change strategy

It wouldn't have been a crazy prediction at race one, but now.... :laughing

yeah, funny how "ah, i guess not today", then "ah, guess not today either" turns into a shitty season :(

I really hope he can turn it around too. was doing so well at Catalunya! for about 2 minutes

:shocker Says who?
Obviously, by results, the Yamahas appear better. I have said so, for one. If you look at the last decade, it is dead even with Yamaha and Honda. Take Stoner out of the equation, and you probably have two MORE championships by Yamaha.

After all the talk about Stoner winning the title partly because he had the best bike, the same talk carried through at the start of the season. Then he got beat by a satellite Yamaha.

It is interesting to look back prior to race 1 and consider everyone's view of Stoner. People thought he was going to just walk away every race and win with no effort. And look, he doesn't even finish 2nd every time, and has announced his retirement now.

Amazing how things have changed!

Not me. I maintained that he would win far less races this year. My guess was he would win the title, but only get like 6 wins.

That was before the retirement talk. I no longer think he will win the title. He's done.

I believe you actually.said 8 wins

I called for jorge to win this year but after stoners back to back wins and his lap times, I began to doubt jorge.

Stoned is no doubt the fastest guy out there but that only gets you so far during the race. Now that the bikes appear to be fairly even I have no doubt jorge will come away with this.

(i love moto3 free practice. no commentators. just engines....)

But those engines sound horrible. Like old WW1 biplanes. Nothing like what a motorcycle should sound. Bring back the 125s!

Ah, it's the usual racer fan bs: If you like the rider, it is him that wins. If you don't like the rider, it's the bike that wins.

Watching his baby and momma in the pits, while daddy lays down his usual "jump on bike, throw down gauntlet, hit pit to bitch about chatter" early laps, I was struck that maintaining any kind of over-the-top sliding pass style might be a bit more difficult for him at this point. Unless he can convince wifey-poo (and himself) that he will come home in one piece, while riding hard enough to beat everyone on the grid, race after race, you may be right. I am hoping he still has enough magic left to make it interesting. I sure don't want another Lorenzo walk away.

the rare time I quote the soup

I'm looking elsewhere," Crutchlow told British media. "Why they gave Bradley a ride, I don't really know. You have to prove yourself to be in MotoGP. Obviously, the ideal scenario is for me to stay with Yamaha, but with (team boss) Herve (Poncharal) signing Bradley, it is going to be difficult."

While the British press lick their chops while seeing Ben Spies flounder early in 2012, none seem to notice Brit wonderboy Smith can't find a way to distance himself from tenth place in 2012 Moto2 "action". Herve Poncharal signing Smith to a MotoGP ride before he'd even raced a MotoGP bike seems to be the disaster of the moment.

"I'm speaking to other teams and have opportunities to go to other teams. Casey's decision doesn't really give us any breathing space. I can go to other teams in the paddock. I am outperforming other guys in the championship."

Crutchlow also said Yamaha rejected his inquiry about getting a factory Yamaha to ride for Tech 3 next season.

Check this out guys:

"Following Lorenzo's contract extension, Honda's Livio Suppo has said the top priority is to retain Dani Pedrosa.

Stoner's likely replacement remains unknown, although another Spaniard - Moto2 star Marc Marquez - is the obvious candidate should the 'rookie rule' be scrapped."

I did not know they were contemplating this "scrapping" of the rule. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I'm not so sure. Frankly I don't think Marquez is even ready for the big bikes, especially the factory equipment.

BTW, you gotta love this shot! Great find!

Looks like Nicky just tossed his bike down during QP.

Bautista currently at the top of the timesheets, with the fastest time we've seen all weekend from anyway. Conditions are cold and blustery.... Overall shitty, and very British.

Looks like Nicky just tossed his bike down during QP.

In the exact same spot in exact same manner as his teammate Rossi earlier. Shared data! :p

Two weird crashes, front tucks under braking when the bike is still mostly upright. And a long hustle back to the garage.

Bautista done good, nobody saw that coming.
