I thought they went away from that because essentially every frame was slightly different in setup?

That and it was difficult to make a god one. 1 in 15 was good to use I think is what they said? The other issue and this was the main issue for Casey is that it wasn't consistent enough. He said he couldn't hit the same spot on track twice in a row with the steel frame.

My guess is that the CF frame exibeted some the same tendencies and the method of mounting made it even more difficult to set up. The AL frame is easier to set up but the lack of experience with it is showing and it needs a better balance in terms of flex and which directions it flexes. The weight balance seems to be off as well so I'm guessing one advantage of a narrower V angle is that it's easier to get some weight on the front.

on the spec Pirelli tire the 999R and the 1098R were the sweetest handling highest corner speed superbikes on the track

except that WSBK spec tires were different for different manufacturers. so a spec Pirelli on a Ducati was not necissarily the same as a spec Pirelli on an inline 4.

MotoGP should probably go to something like that, but then if one manufacturer gets on a roll then the otheres will freak out. it worked in WSBK because everyone goes into WSBK knowing that the rules are there to favor Ducati, so the spec tire thing isn't an issue.

Jesus. What do you even say to this? Ah, to be young and fearless!

Knee slider? check
Elbow slider? check
Hip Slider? Kazuhiko Yamano's on it
Chin Slider? We may have to look into that soon

For as much as I wanted to see Marquez get a comeuppance in GP, he looks damned impressive so far!

Chin slider... HA! :laughing With this kid you never know.

I mean, I don't know how much Dani has taken him under his wing or anything; I imagine not a hell of a lot as often times your team mate becomes your fiercest competition. No, I'm thinking he is a natural talent that they have been grooming for a long, long time. His whole life has been leading up to this very moment. I saw some video a while back of him, he could not have been more than 6 or 7 and he was already in Repsol colors. So he is the golden child and to his credit he is siezing the moment.

Of course, it's very early; there are more tracks to go to and more bikes to destroy! Bad habbits can be hard to break.

As long as Rossi doesn't have the Spies curse then the races should be at least 25% more exciting this year

I have not kept up with moto gp since the offseason started.

Damn, Marquez is fucking fast for a rookie!!
Rossi still has not really lost "it".
And the CRT bikes, especially the ART aprilia are running right there with the Ducati bikes, is Ducati that bad or the CRT bikes getting faster?
And between spies, dovi and clutchlow, it looks like clutchlow made the best decision in the offseason lol

I honestly see Marquez right there with Rossi interms of fighting for that last podium spot, that dude can ride!

Yup. Rossi was two seconds faster than any of the Ducatis, immediately showing that he still has it. Ducati is that bad.

Marquez is going to get a bit of comeuppance in MotoGP. He rode Moto 2 with no show of concern for the danger he put his fellow riders in, and helped several crash. He'll do that in MotoGP and get the same lecture that Simoncelli got when he did that. It's a simple lecture, and goes like this: "You like riding MotoGP? You want to go back to driving an ice cream truck? These bikes are expensive and the riders are too. You don't get to cause crashes, period."

Colin is sad.
Honda brought a light sabre to the knife fight again.
Let's hope for a competitive and exciting season in GP, not just 2 and 3.

breaking news:
Audi has a completely new package already built and en route to Bologna for installation of the Termignoni stickers..
"here, it seems you can't do it yourselves so we built you one, you are welcome." :rofl

I'm watching some of the practice vids, Rossi looks HAPPY and comfortable on the Yamaha, which he never did on the Ducati. His entire effect is different. I'm amazed he's going so fast so quickly on the bike. He's also a racer who responds to pressure in a race. This will be an interesting season.

Nakamoto interview:

-Pedrosa is testing parts, Marquez is not
-Marquez is quicker than he expected
-Honda production racer will be a facory spec bike with a standard transmission

Think you'll be eating those words about both riders and only being on the last spot of the podium several times this year.

Honda production won't have pneumatic valves and will be using the MM spec electronics. So a bit more different than just standard trans

"Fastest" has some pretty cool interviews of Lorenzo about when he first came to Motogp. He said that he didn't understand what was so tough about a Gp bike, because for him it was easy to get a good lap time and he had podiums in his first races. Then he had that huge high side in China, and a couple more pretty big offs and started to fear the bike more. I wonder if the same thing will happen to Marquez.

As much as I want to see Rossi prove all the nay sayers wrong and get another championship, I want to see Pedrosa win a championship, and i'd also like Marquez to become the next Rossi.

However, the real question at hand is, how many DNFs will RDP have?
