I plan on doing more of these charts for FP's and QP, maybe make it that much more interesting for you guys who like to predict the race finishing order. Maybe for WSBK threads too. :thumbup

I have scripts that can build the charts and do some analysis like this. The problem I have is that extracting the data from the PDFs is way too time consuming.

yes, yes, please create the mountain charts for us -

thx a ton for making the offer

These things are interesting for a minute but I've learned that after the initial excitement, people stop caring. They are too attached to their assumptions.

Maybe, but a yellow line on a white backdrop is gonna be a bitch to discern.

Format the chart. use a different color background, change the lines, etc. Create a template in Excel.

That's freakin sweet. Now what would be icing on the cake would be winning % of each rider for each track when who or whom is or isn't racing. If that makes sense.

The data is too limited for that to be possible or informative.

ya ill c how quickly i can write something tonight after work (assuming i finish my race resume b4 that). it shouldnt be too hard to parse, chart, and spit out a jpeg... but identifying outliers and such to toss will be a bit more difficult. u have a Mac??

Damn you. This is what I have been looking for for years. I even posted about it here.

I've not added much to Mototheory in some time mostly because the really interesting shit is in lap time analysis. I have the scripts to analyze the data, it is just parsing the PDFs where I've reached the limit of my coding skills.

No, I pointed that the added weight may have actually helped Pedro considering his result.

Again, you haven't been paying attention. The earlier weight increase cause chatter that screwed with the Honda. If it hadn't been for that, Pedrosa would have been stronger at the start of the season.

This weight thing seems to have confounded people completely since Pedrosa came to MotoGP. Everything they've believed about how his weight played a role has been wrong. Just like all the nonsense about what was wrong with the Ducati.

Always on the best bike, zero titles. Try again. :laughing

Again Pedro had a year that he hasn't had before. there is no way to telling if the added weight helped or didn't. Signs point to it helping.

There are at least two, probably more, weight discussions going on:
1. The weight added to the bikes AFTER the prototypes were built. That screwed Honda royal, because they couldn't put the weight were they wanted to put it.
2. The weight added per the rules.
3. Pedrosa's weight.
4. Spies weight after a weekend of mom's cooking.

Anymore weighty issues? Two of the above are related.

Bombshell, Neil Spalding vis SoloMoto is reporting that Dani Pedrosa actually weighs 250 pounds.

It's well documented the added weight was a problem for the hondas. And also that the problem was not so problematic once next year's bike was tested and used mid season... when Pedrosa really started having a great season.

It's not like the weight thing is guess work.

^hahaha and now,

"Reigning double MotoGP champion Lorenzo is a long-time fan, and now friend, of Biaggi."

Lorenzo liked Biaggi's Copperfield comment. He knows what he really meant :twofinger

with all the recent hoopla over SBK being shown on Al Jazeera, it's a relief to now know that MotoGP has a US outlet -

even if it's SpeedTV.......

ready to fly to Sepang. great that the team is making it there for testing. seriously, most expensive shakedown test EVER! im not sure what electronics they are running, probably the ART stuff, hopefully they dont have too many teething problems.

where in the world [UK?] does Bird get the $$ to compete as CRT in the entire series [vs only wildcards]?

he's like Stamboli x 2 bikes x 6 times the events + int'l travel = mega $$
