Don't have my current copy of 2007 with me and need to re install. Figured I'd just upgrade to the latest version and come to find out I can only install 2016 on one computer or do a one year lease of the software.

Is Microsoft this retarded? Anybody know of a good alternative software or should I bootleg this shit?

Put here instead of the tech section for exposure

Office 365 is pretty good plus you can put it on multiple computers.

Microsoft sells ms office home as a direct download. Five users, 89 bucks for the year.

Open office is pretty good but I just use google docs these days.

What programs do you need?

I bought a Windows tablet little over a year ago so the Office license just ran out yet Word still seems to work. I just get a message every time saying the license is up or some such message. There may be a grace period that I don’t know about.

Google Docs - or if you're a college student (or know one) you can go to www.collegebuys.org and purchase Office 2016 for $40
not a student

Looking like this is what I'll wind up doing

Damn expensive for something I only from time to time. Might not bother me as much if I was a power user of this software but I'm not. Also remembering that my license didn't expire annually or the ability to install on any of my computers for one price leaves a bad taste in my mouth
MS HUP $9.95 for Office 2016
. Going to contact my companies IT peeps tomorrow and see if we have this. If not, open office it is.

Link? Everything I can find is to the contrary.

Word, excel, probably it.

I upgraded my 2007 to I believe 13 through my wife's employer. She no longer works there and the license expired. Can't use shit anymore so I need to dig up my 2007, which I'm not near currently, or do something else which is what this thread is about. Can still open stuff but not make any changes what so ever just fyi.
Yeah, the MS Office subscription thing is a bunch of BS
They want all the money :(

Enroll at a community college to get the email and get free ms office through a student program using that email.

I'm perfectly fine using my Office 2011 for the foreseeable future.

Other than an occasional Word document and managing my bills on Excel, I have no need to pay a recurring fee for access to their programs.

I used to use open office, now I use libreoffice (also free) as well as goodle docs for cloud storage stuffs.

libre is a bit faster and more stable from my experience.

BOOM!

And it's on all the portable devices as well. Way better than always being behind a version and it is pretty much the standard around which everything else wants to be.

Yeah, it's actually pretty damn good. Worth it for Outlook and OneNote by themselves. Word is the only worthless component in there.
