Adrian Belew

poped into my head so I pulled out a CD and man, I forgot how he is. I saw him in small clubs a couple of time in the 80's. I did npt know he was in Frank Zappa's band.

I am listening to the "Young Lions" album. It has Bowie on it.

Don't cause me pain
Be my lover don't play no game
Just play me John Coltraine"

I shall regularly lament that the musical genius of Chris Randall is being regularly under recognized.

^^^ that was interesting. not something i would normally listen to (or hear played in our house). my dude is into the blues, and i tend toward women, and songs around my primary obsession in life.

we love Ms McLachlan in my home, and the blues, also, of course.

otoh, this is kinda awsome, too:

^^^ that was awesome.

am almost embarrassed to post this. came across it by accident. total pop. but perfectly describes a major turning point in my life. we had been apart for 3 years, separated by 1,800 miles, and couldn't take it anymore. it was excruciating. immediately set about making up for lost time.

From my favorite Boygenius. It boggles my mind how much hype that band got when Baker's solo music is way more compelling (to me), and I don't hear anything about her.

1990...Asia

Released in 1990.
John Wetton singing.
By that time...Steve Howe...had left.
Carl Palmer was gone, too.

Songwriter is listed as Steve Leslie Jones...?

Here's the lyrics...

The sun was shining
The sky was crying
It just tore apart
And down came the rain
And I was soaking
Yeah I was freezing but,
I was feeling
No kind of pain
Come a fireball
I held it in my hand
You see before you
A man who's known greatness
I had a vision
A revelation
I took a look inside of me
And I am a sensation
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
It's either easy
Or it's impossible
But if you ain't got it
You ain't never gonna get it
Once you find it
You gotta grab it you gotta,
Reach down your own throat
And yank it to the surface
That may be brutal
May be gory
But whatever else it is
It's my story
And I believe it
Yeah, I can see it
I sing it out, shout it out
Gimme death or glory
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Days like these
Days like these
Do you know I think
I'll move a mountain or two
Days like these
Days like these
Anything you want, you know
I'll get it for you
Whoa
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
The sun was shining
I was crying
I saw a thousand people
Singing in the rain
And I was thinking
About the Indians
And how they say, true wisdom
Only comes from pain
Come a rumbling
Humbling feeling
Like things will never
Ever be the same
But what doesn't kill ya
Only makes you stronger
And today I'm strong enough
And anyway, I love the rain
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Oh on a day like these
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Ah, change the world
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Days like these I feel
Like I can change the world
Feel I can change the world

I like the message...but...it's a bit over the top.
ASIA's first album was brilliant.
Steve Howe on guitars...John Wetton singing...Carl Palmer drumming...and the guy from The Buggles playing keys.
Truly a SUPERGROUP...I mean, if you're a fan of YES or Emerson, Lake & Palmer, or Wetton's group's, UK and King Crimson, Uriah Heep, and even Roxy Music.
The guy who took over for Steve Howe...who is fairly famous as the guitarist on YES's best albums, but was also in GTR, and Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe...and is still touring with a band called YES...anyway...Steve's replacement in ASIA was Armand "Mandy" Meyer (born 29 August 1960) is a Swiss guitarist best known for being a member of the hard rock band Gotthard, the progressive rock band Asia, and the heavy metal band Krokus. Meyer has also worked with Cobra, Stealin' Horses, Katmandu and Unisonic.
Krokus...lol.

Carl Palmer is still touring with AI versions of Emerson and Lake.
Keith Emerson ate a gun the day before my birthday in 2016...after he discovered he could no longer play keyboards.
Greg Lake ate himself to death not long after that. 9 months later...pancreatic cancer.

All my heroes are dead.

Now I'm sad.

:teeth
