NBA Playoffs 2013 Go Warriors!

One of most shocking dunks ever. :applause :hail

The NBA is rigged as fuck. There's a reason I stopped watching.

Ehh, I think this is all tin-foil stuff. Professional leagues understand that in the long-term, their business model MUST be based on fairness and impartiality. If there was even anything approaching concrete evidence, don't you think the smaller-market teams would be in a huge uproar?

Free throw discrepancies happen. That piece of data, alone, is not close to being dispositive.

Tim Donaghy.

I'd be insanely surprised if he was the only guy doing shit like that.

He bet, for his personal gain. There wasn't a coordinated, top-down directive to favor certain teams. This is like saying if one police officer is corrupt, the entire system (not just that department) is corrupt.

Lakers/Kings game 6, 1985 draft, Chris Paul Lakers trade that was vetoed, there are plenty of examples.

Chris Paul was not allowed to go to the Lakers, the team you just said was being favored by the league. Actually, Dub said that, but you followed with being certain the league was rigged, so I will just attribute that to both of you.

Causation is the problem. Poorly reffed games, free throws discrepancies, aren't sufficient evidence of a top-down conspiracy.

Chris Paul was not allowed to go to the Lakers because the deal was heavily favoring the Lakers and not the Hornets, the team the NBA was running at the time. It was vetoed because other owners went absolutely nuts.

OK, you are right. Not a good example. Still, as with everything else, a few incidents (I mean, you mentioned the 1985 draft as an example, which implies that good ones are few and far between) doesn't make a conspiracy. The owners of the small-market teams are intelligent businessmen. Would they tolerate a clearly-rigged system?

What can the smaller market teams do? Quit? Sell? They are business men trying to make a heavy return on their investment....the NBA is trying to do the same.

The Lakers are going to get swept out of the playoffs but the ratings boost and tv $$ they get for being in is what the league cares about.

That game 6 Kings and Lakers finals was insane! I just came across that and watched the 16 minute youtube breaking down the blatant blown calls and favoritism the Lakers were getting. It was pretty bad.

I agree that there have been some poorly reffed games that can look suspicious. However, when you play thousands of games every season, that will happen. Every single fan message board is absolutely certain that games are rigged against them. It is just human nature.

Smaller teams would protest, get local media involved, etc. Unless you mean the small teams go along with the conspiracy, since they get their cut.

For the Lakers, it would be tough, but what you are saying is that each postseason game they play is a huge boon for the league. Shouldn't we have seen some very one-sided calls thus far against the Spurs?

So, the lottery balls were rigged? Seriously?

You're good at playing devils advocate.

Its a collection of incidences. David Stern himself does the lottery, shit maybe only there were only Cavalier balls in the hopper.

Vetoing the Chris Paul to Lakers for "Nba Operations" reasons was bogus.

Kobe is out, no amount of blown calls will get that dysfunctional team to win....well, not enough to stay under the suspicious radar :laughing If he were playing, hell yes they'd be getting calls.

You cannot say anything order Stern fines you. Cuban, owner of the Mavs, has racked up a near million $$ in fines over the years. They cant comment on the refs AT ALL.

Cuban has fines, but he continues to make noise. Anyway, with everything I take stances on, I need solid evidence. I agree that games can look suspicious, taken singly.

Westbrook out for probably the entire playoffs. DOH!

So bad. That was a terrible play too. Some Rockets defender just threw himself at Westbrooks knee, he went down in pain but did finish the game. Gonna severely hurt the Thunder's chances. Looks like the Heat are walking away with this one....baring an absolute US beats the Canadians type miracle.

Yeah. I'm a Rockets fan, so maybe my bias is talking here...but I didn't think Beverly's play was all that bad, and wasn't cheap. Westbrook slowed, and it looked like he might call a TO, but until he does, well obviously, the ball is in play. It's possible that Westbrook returns in say, the Western Conference Finals.

I love how the NBA has to have the Lakers in the playoffs. Second to last game of the season they played the Warriors and had 54 free throws to the warriors 16 and only won by 2 i think. If the lakers didnt make it the Utah Jazz would have. Something tells me the NBA gets more $$ with the Lakers in.
yeah, what bullshit that game was. but it was poetic justice that kobe got injured and out for the season in that game. stern can't control everything.

Big win tonight despite giving up 30 points on turn overs. Nuggets dont seem to have an answer. Sunday should be a close out game if they didnt lose game 1 in the last 8 seconds.
