Nemo Rides the Continental Divide (long)

Nemo Brinker said:
It was a little bittersweet, knowing it would be my last night on the road, but my body was beat to hell by now, and I did miss my bed, my girlfriend, and regular meals. I mean, by now I’d been waking myself from deep sleep, doing motions that suspiciously resembled shifting and rolling on the throttle.

seems like if yer girlie rode motos as well, most of those concerns would turn into pleasures instead ;) :laughing

awesome trip and subsequent trip report & pics Brinky....love the General Lee in that car wash pic!! :laughing

thanks for taking us along post trip!!! :applause

Awesome pix & report!! I've done some of the same roads myself - Extraterrestrial Hwy, both of the Highway Twelves (the one in Utah and the Lolo one), and more recently, the stuff around Lakeview and Alturas.

Whenever I'm out there, I always ask myself: Why exactly do people bother to live back East?

Great job, Heidi! Well done. I can't wait to see your travelogue of the Alps!

Wow! I feel like I just came back from the trip myself - I was sooo engrossed in the pics and story! :thumbup

(I just now found it and read it 'cover-to-cover' all in one sitting, whew!)

Thank you, Heidi!!! :applause :applause

True, but she prefers to ride on the back, and she wouldn't fit with all my luggage! :laughing

Still, I'm gently encouraging her to take the MSF course. I have visions of us drinking whiskey around the campfire, with our bikes nearby. :dream

Just amazing. And your helmet hair is awesome (even if your camera does look like an alien).

There's nothing sexier than a couple riding together, each on her/his own bikes, IMO. I hope you have some lovely couple-rides ahead - although this one would be hard to top!

What a great writeup, I'd love to do something like that one day.
Thanks for the inspiration :applause

In Soviet Russia, Camera shoots YOU!

It's a Kodak V570, and it has a close-up and a wide-angle lens--thus the alien impression.

Plus the lens cover swooshes back with a slick little mechanical noise when you hit the "on" button, making me have to buy it. :laughing Oooh! Technology!

Thanks again for the great read and visuals Nemo!

I need to look into why that gas station in Rachel is closed though as I will be going through there in Sept...thanks for the heads up.

:applause Read the whole thing now! That was amazing! You're an amazing woman. Such a great writeup and photos. I'm sad it's over, though! :(

When's the next chapter? Tell us you're riding this weekend, okay? Hey, there's this cute little town called "Needles" with a beautiful lake and you can get there by riding tasty hwy 25, and criss-crossing tons of parks and open space! Just a quick "little" day trip, you know...:)

Awesome - just awesome!!!!!!

Nemo thanks for the pic of the Lochsa, it means a lot to me that you remembered my request?

I wish you many joys on two wheels until that last mile fades away into dust.

Wow, I must say that this had been one of the most worthwhile threads on BARF i've seen in awhile. They were awesome pics with a great story behind them. Also great was the Google maps accompanying the story so we didn't get lost along the way. I'm sure directly after this long ride you needed a masseuse! Thanks again for taking the time out and posting this whole story, it's been quite delightful for me, along with others on BARF i'm sure!
