New 250 Ninja, disappointing

Hmm...Those new wheels are a six spoke, if I remember correctly the EX500 has a three spoke, so I'm not sure where the tire size came from, there's no tire size on the Kawasaki site.

From the intro the engine looks more powerful, with fuel injection.

The frame has been changed to steel.

All this negativity for the little Ninja is just wrong. This is a great little bike. I may just go buy one (with less money then one two week pay check), and ride the Santa Cruz mountains with Gary J. for eternity.....

For racing applications a 110/70 X 17 & 130/70 X 17 (parts binned from the 500, like the front forks?) isn't going to fit a "modern" race tire either.

Don't worry Clutchslip, I am sure you are faster in every way, probably cooler, and maybe even better looking!

I have no delusions of self-grandeur on my clapped-out little 250.

Agreed the techniques for riding the two bike are different, but certain things are the same:

-Getting on the gas sooner is better
-Braking less is better
-Learning higher corner speed is better

As Kevin Cameron mentions, often people on smaller bikes go faster because they aren't afraid to open the throttle sooner, which of course almost always helps all handling situations.

Really? I think Kawasaki forgot to go look at what they were replacing?

Here is what they had for 2007, which is what they had since 1987.

"Frame - Semi-double cradle, high-tensile steel"
 
I think it's the same bike, simply with cooler bodywork and brakes...
 
^^^ I think you missed a few things like the larger, wider wheels, larger forks, different swingarm, different axle adjusters, modified frame, and modified engine.

But yeah, like the 07 CBR600RR is the same bike as the previous year, with cooler bodywork and brakes.

Not that you could really roadrace a little 125 4-stroke making less than 15hp, but if Yamaha builds one with a 250cc motor in it, they will KILL Kawasaki's Ninja 250 market (even with the new blingage). And if they managed to stuff a 450cc motor in it, the Singles class would blow up (hopefully just the class, not the motor... ;) )

While I think he Yamaha is a more attractive bike, really its more of the same:

-Steel Frame
-100/70/17 130/70/17


The only real advantages it has are:

-FI which the Euro Ninja has (maybe we should tighten up our environmental regulations and get FI :)
-Aluminum Swingarm

It may be able to fit into WERA's mini series though?

and if you live in big city? it kicks ass on cool against any scooter!

So Alex, speaking of 450 singles? Any word on the AFM following the spec 450 super single class concept? Maybe make it a sub class of the singles class (points different, but run at the same time)? I just know you love that word "spec" ;)
 
Very Sexy, but also very pricy for a 250. Just what most wanted to avoid with the new EX, especially for peeps who need allow barrier to entry.

take lights/signals of and it is race ready.
ninja 250 will cost same or more to be race ready.
 
Not so,

its a 2008 so modifications are very limited in what you can do.

Nice tires, maybe a pipe, some jets, and go for the gold!

that is $3k and none of this you have to do on Yamaha.
