Newbies and the motorcycle wave gripe

Instead of the 2-finger-down-low wave, tell him to try the flailing-arm-up-high wave so other riders notice

I appreciate the subtleties on this aspect of riding culture. Of note, those who don't wave but kick a foot out. I see you - keep being you!

I occasionally wave at cyclists since they're on two wheels.

Don't get folks waiving on divided highways, and ignore them.

Yesterday I finally got a wave from another Transit Van :D - I would think Sprinters would wave at Sprinters, and Transits at other Transits sort of like the VW buses / Westies do, but I guess it's not a thing. FJ Cruiser guys waive often though (y)

Since I’ve slowed down I find waving mid corner competitive.
Do y’all wave at Can Ams? I give a thumbs up to cross country bicyclists

Been waved at by cyclists in which case I'll wave back.

My grandpa used to wave at anyone else driving a truck, which, considering this was Colorado in the 80s, meant he waved at more than 50% of the road users.

My problem, when a rally happens, just when do you stop waving?
Surly not the miles on the way, but 10 miles out, or town limits, same county?

Wasn't the wave to show passing knights, your hand was empty of a weapon?
No fight required, , ,

Or a Corvette.

Corvette people are great wavers...except some of the new C8 owners. They don't get it. Banish them.

HD's too. They don't wave to sportbikers most times...

Spent a wonderful week in Nebraska in the mid 70s. Travelers would flash their lights when they noticed the license plate of an approaching vehicle was the same county as their own.

As far as the two-fingers down salute, I do not discriminate. If you are on less than four-wheels, I give the low deuce.

Wait, that came out kinda shitty. Y'all know what I mean. :twofinger

My daughter lives in Cape Town, and a couple times when visiting I've rented a bike for a few days. Riders in South Africa do a modified nod, tilting their head toward the oncoming rider, I felt like such a local after I picked up on that! :p

Long before I rode, the only people who waved were those few in 50’s and early 60’s Porsches.

Two fingers down is an 80's/ 90's thing, that is when I noticed, never heard of a reason before.

I've seen it on tv, one of those history of HD type shows, a guy in period clothing riding a "chuffer", throwing a low deuce.
Never saw that in the 60's
