I will say, as a niners fan, I do not love Shanahan. I like him. I don't know who I would prefer. But, we have him. The team is great despite his narcissism.

Still prefer him over McDaniels. :D

seeing Warner miss a tackle, then later get injured was a very bad sign

good game Minn. you don't get that kind of yardage against that d without a great game plan.
 
Purdy coming back to earth?

I watched with a couple 9er fan friends, I kept saying if Shanahan is still with the team, Cousins will be a 9er quarterback... soon.

Yeah, I'd rather have... Well, not Shanahan, but someone good. McDaniels is not good. I think you could be right with the narcissism. He comes off very smug a lot of times, like he's the only one who actually "Gets it."

Both Warner AND Bosa missed that tackle, if we're thinking of the same one.
It was a great game to watch for sure. I think the niners had around 60 running yards total, Brock had 19 or so of them. Can't beat too many teams with that few rushing yards.

How about an all out blitz with 16 seconds left in the half and the vikings needing to go 25 yards to get into FG range... Why? Wilks on the hot seat? That was a huge boo boo.

Bonta Hill is all over the Cousins idea this morning. He will be a free agent, unable to be franchise tagged (Due to when his contract ends) at the end of the year. Baby horse teeth is not a patient man, especially with QBs.
 
The turnover on the first drive and the takeaway by the Viking receiver on the last Viking drive were great bookends to a great game by Minnesota and an "oof" by SF.

Haven't seen a QB that effective against that defense in a while.
 
I mean, the Vikings were a serious playoff team last year, even if they seem to have lost a step and aren't doing great this year. Still a dangerous team. It isn't like playing the Panthers.
 
Purdy likely out for week 8 on concussion hold.
 
Niners gonna Niner, can't have a QB stay on the field. They will still somehow weirdly be fine.
 
Really really really hoping Purdy passes protocol and plays.

I can take the conspiracy theory of Kyle wanting Darnold to play just so he can get Cousins in free agency in the fall.

Also can't take those Lance loving Niner fans that have quieted their Purdy hate but now are back to the surface claiming Lance would be a better option than Darnold. Based on what? Lance displayed zero potential to move forward with him.

Kirk Cousins is a 35 year old Pretty Good QB. Why would anyone invest anything significant to obtain that guy?

Purdy is not going to play on his rookie deal next year, so the Niners will have to invest cap space in him.

Cousins will be able to ask the moon from desperate teams. It doesn't even make sense for the Niners to spend cap on Cousins.

You are correct about Lance. The coaches saw him in practice every day. He likely will never be more than a back up.:rolleyes
 
I didn't like reading that Wilks was apologizing for the blitz call at the end of the half. No one could have predicted the robbery Addison put down on that play. Ward had it covered like the last time when he bullied Addison to the ball. Well, Addison got his revenge. Nothing to apologize there for IMO.


anyways, yeah, maybe not a great defensive call, but I feel like Kyle gets off the hook a bit too with this. And he made it a point to call his DC out for it in the presser. I didn't see a lot of innovation on the offense especially in the outside run game tbf. Maybe he's saving that for the playoffs.

Really, 9ers shouldn't overreact to 5-2. They're fine. No one needs to fall on a blade here.

I'm not sure about if he should have apologized or not, but that play call was HORRIBLE. Way too much risk vs. reward. It was highly unlikely the niners would end up with the ball IMO. So they maybe get a sack? Ok. Still not worth risking it.

Oh, I don't know. Dak is past 30 and always hurt. Lance might get a year as a Starter in Dallas before they draft the new guy.
