Night Stick - Legal?

I have a busted pool stick in the cab of my truck. It's the top half not the heavy half and it's in there because I was going to get it fixed but the place I was taking it to went out of business. I'm guessing the LEO's wouldn't buy that (true) story so I better get it out of there.

I have a crescent wrench in the cab along with some other tools that would work better anyway.

I collect swords and know better then to take this outside but I wonder if I was limping if anyone would even check it or know what it was...:dunno

Most weapons laws are a crime of intent.

The mag-light in your car is fine, unless you use it as a weapon or a cop has a reason to believe you have it there for the sole purpose of a weapon.

Same goes for a baseball bat, a stick, a pool cue, etc. etc. etc.

It's pretty simple, if you're not a complete dolt, to avoid getting arrested for such things.

-----

The dude I encountered who DUI crashed, then got out of his Volkswagen Jetta with a semi-truck tire-kicker and brandished it when he didn't want to hang around for his DUI? He had a hard time explaining that one.

And even then, it takes more to prosecute....

I contacted a group of registered Sureño gang members hanging on a corner and found a hammer in one of the dude's back pockets during a pat search. This was dispatched as a group of suspicious people, so the contact was good. I asked him why he had it and he said he carried it for protection and was not using it as the tool it was intended to be. Hooked him for the billy club section. The DA rejected the case stating a hammer wasn't specifically addressed in the section. :|

As a matter of fact, I hooked up a guy who had a shuriken a couple days ago. :twofinger

Was he a ninja and was he using it at the time?:laughing

I carry a halligan tool in my trunk. I've brandished it a few times at TCs, but never in an angry fashion...

And if I carry this in my truck with my other survival gear, do I get jail time?

Very handy rescue tool you good samaritan!

That thing is so heavy, you couldn't really use it offensively.:cool I have used multiple times as a "civilian" first responder. I'm really good with opening shit.:cool

The second time to last I used it- was when a neighbors house was on fire.

There is no difference between a rattan Escrima sticks than a real one. They are the same. If you want the practice version they the padded, plastic version.

Bummer. Thanks for the reality check, hard to believe light weight sticks are a felony.

easy handy rule to know if legal or not.

could the item possibly be used to protect your self or not.

if posable ( in any fashion ) to to used for self defense it is a crime to have.

.

If you do end up using a baton, night stick, ASP you should learn how to use it effectively.

Just FYI; 12020PC and 12021PC have been blown up into about a dozen individual penal codes; one for each type of weapon. Kinda......ridiculous IMO.
