OMG my Alpinestars boots melted.

the same things have happened to mine...But over several rides through Berryessa...I'm convinced its that model boot.

I had the same model boot and the same thing happened to mine at a 100+ day at Willow Springs. I sent mine back to A* and they repaired them for free.

I now wear Daytonas.

What does Alpinstars say about it?

Bitch at A* to repair or replace them for sure. I've heard of the problem with the soles of the GPtechs before, but haven't heard much complaining about the newer ones yet.

Did you turn the heel fan on?

:laughing

That is why I won't buy those.....

well that and the fact that Alpinestars do not come in a size 15. I have 2 pairs of Daytona boots and they never fall apart. You get what you pay for.

funny, the heel of my A*'s melted this weekend too! I thought it was just me that was falling apart.

Oh well, i've had those boots for over 4 years, so i guess it's time for a new pair.

:(

I guess it's time for some new Sidi Vert's, I'm done with alpinestars.

+1

I had AlpineStars that had issues after 3 rides-

My sidi's have lasted 3 seasons now- and I'm going to upgrade to newer Sidi's

One suggestion if you get new sidi's is to make sure the bolts are correctly tightened or use a dab of blue loctite on the toe sliders and stuff...

seems like alpinestars boots have the same problem that firestone had with their tires - tread separation.

hearing stories about things like this made me spring extra for sidi's instead of A*'s. sure A* might have great customer service, but it'd be great if i didn't need to contact them in the first place.

whoever's getting their A* boots replaced, i'd say sell them off on craigslist or ebay and get yourself some nice, reliable, sidi's.

i've had my pair of sidi vertigo's for three weeks now, i LOVE them. granted that my last pair of boots were icon. :p but i'm glad i didn't purchased a pair of A*s.

judging at the picture, it sure does look like it was glued before. did you purchased it used? but then again, everyone seems to have the same problem.

spidey

I had a very similar thing happen to my GP Techs, I never talked to AlpineStar, I just bought Sidi and have never looked back.......I'll never buy A* stuff again, before the boots, I had some shitty gloves and much of their line, that I've seen, seems really poorly constructed

when i read the title, i thought to myself... "this guy must ride an RC51"

those bikes get hoooot by the boot area.

A-star will repair the boots, but there will be a hefty "repair fee" attached. That was the case with the boots I sent in. Note: A-Star repaired the boots and then said "pony up X amount if you want to see your boots again." Not cool at all.
