OMG my Alpinestars boots melted.

After reading all this feedback ..... well, I had a very small issue with a lace of my " very early production" pair of Alpinestar SuperTech boots and a very helpfull lady at their customer service told me to send the boots in for repair. I did. When A* got my boots, they immediately called me and said that they would REPLACE my boots for me with a NEW pair, but they do not have a pair in my size/color in LA, and, would I mind waiting 2-3 days?

I did not mind :)

I have had that pair of boot for about two years with absolutely NO problems, in fact, I believe those boots to be superior to most motorcycle boots out there! Those boots survided admirably through a couple of crashes since and are in perfect working order.

On a separate ocation my friend sent his pair of SuperTech boots to A* for repair after his crash.....I believe they charged him $35 TOTAL and the repair looked very good to me. Seems very reasonable from where I stand.

Anyway, these are just two cases out of many more where a* customer service proved to be outstanding.

Unfortunately there is an update :)

Looks like the new (er) Alpinestars Supertech boots (my third pair) are not as good, and come unglued at all the places that are glued :)

The speed lace still has the same problems of years ago, and now the company does not stand behind their products the way they used to...

Sadly, I have to switch, anyone has recommendations for boots?

I had mine resoled by Anthony's Leatherworks and he used a Vibram sole. It's holding up much better than the OEM Alpinestars soles with my stupid-sharp Attack rearsets.

Whammy has never had a problem with A-Stars boots.
Those are just cray.
Best set of boots were Daytonas though:thumbup

Impressive 15 year later update..! :thumbup

I have several pairs.. no problems, but not used every day and I use clean socks... shit that was funny. :laughing

Sidi. I was going to replace mine a couple years ago but they are still going strong. Had them for about 15 years now. No issues.

Forma's are my second favorite after SIDI's for the track. They do so damn well and I've crashed in them multiple times.

I was going to drive up to Anthony's Leatherworks, but then I put it into GPS.... Oops, it is s bit of a drive :)

But thank you. I think I'll try Sidi this time around. Thank you all

Had Daytona's years ago, thank you for reminding me. I'll look into those again....

Astars are pretty much junk now, very cheaply made.I have a bunch of their stuff ...leathers, pants, jackets, gloves, boots..... The older, the better.... All the newer stuff I bought fell apart quickly. The old stuff, I still have, and wear.

The mid-soles of my Sidi Vortice disintegrated after four years; literally broke up into thousands of little pieces. I had been a loyal Sidi customer for thirty years, but four years of service for their top-of-the-line road boots is unacceptable; I got Alpinestars Supertech as replacements.

On the other hand, my Sidi Crossfire boots have been going strong for almost ten years now.

That's exactly what happened to my original Alpinestars Supertech boots, I figured it was a fluke, maybe I stepped on some unknown petroleum product some time during their life, so I did not call Alpinstars that time.

This time, my latest (third pair) of Supertechs, came unglued on all the seams....the soles are peeling off the boots as cleanly as the protective film off you new iPhone :) seriously.

The inside booties came apart at the seams as well...same glue?

Alpinestars wanted to see the pictures to see how old the boots were and to see if they are "current". the boots turned out to be "current" and the the bottms of the soles looked new, so Alpinestars told me it was my fault because I did not wear the boots enough and that allowed the glue to dry up...haha

they wanted to 150$ to fix the(ir) issue...I said thank you, let me try some other boots first :)

Alpinestars told you that it's better to wear the boots and expose them to environmental degradation factors, rather than keeping them in a dark closet? That doesn't make any sense.

Regarding glues being used, I had read that due to environmental concerns, highly toxic glues that had been used for a long time have now been banned, and the new glues are not as reliable as the old ones. My Vortice boots were made in Italy, where they have to follow strict EU environmental rules, but then again my Crossfire boots were made in Romania, which is also part of the EU.

My Supertechs were made in Croatia, not an EU country, so maybe they used the old glues?

Ill say it again, in my opinion, Alpinstar boots are crap.

Mad

I would now have to agree, and i really miss their old customer service...

On the good side of things, their current guy, is not very good for their business, so he will probably get replaced at some point.

Dudes. Lower you expectations.

Ive got 3 pairs of TCX however they don't get enough use for me to give a durability report.
The Tcx RS2 EVO developed a small crack after a year at the front side where they bend.
The Tcx RT Race get used the most and are holding up well after a year.
I also like my short Tcx Vibe.
