Online Dating, whats your experience?

I'm going with ZoomZoom this time doing two days of novice school. I will come watch you at the track that cannot be named!

If they're not doing an NRS, see if Lisa Kinberger is available to coach you.
Also, attend all the classroom stuff, and be sure and tell Vik I said to give him a hard time... and a hug! If they are doing an NRS, I'll see if Marty is going to be there instructing... he was my first Z2 instructor, and helped me so much! :)

My advice to online daters: cancel your account and get out more -- cafes, BBQs, parties, church, bird watching, walking your dog, you name it -- and start flirting.

Since most of our communication is body language, watching a prospective match for a few minutes will tell you more about him or her than a thousand mindless e-mails.

Turn. It. Off. Now. :ride

I agree with Vato. Had a great time with all the MILFs wanting sexy time (sooo desperate...), but ended up always meeting another horny, smart schoolteacher at work.

Pro tip: reply to all the profiles on match without pics. Seriously. Met plenty of smoking hot chicas who were reluctant to attract the douches and that DID require a lot of tedious emailing back and forth.

The occasional hottie who contacts you is best avoided. If I have to explain why, you wouldn't understand.

I killed my match profile. it sucked and blew. okcupid was more better.

I was on Match for a year and got absolutely no replies. I didn't have much luck with OKCupid either, but at least it was interesting. :laughing

I had all of one date from match. That Site can eat a bag. :x

Vato loco I am always out doing stuff. I'm just trying to improve my odds a little.

I've had better luck with OKC then POF just on a basis that I'm meeting women without kids instead of single mothers.

it's cuz you're too busy being passive-aggressive to close the deal. Sheesh. You're reminding me of that kid in Evangelion who whines he can't save his friends with a giant, asskicking combat robot because, well, he's too busy complaining instead of getting out there and kicking ass :p

The fillies are throwing themselves at your ranch, saddle up or turn in your spurs :rofl

*note* that was NOT a Blazing Saddles reference, you freaks! :))

:rofl

So this thread bumped into my mailbox, and I thought I'd give an update...

(snip)

Well, fast-forward about eight months. I get an interesting message from a woman who would have never shown up based on the search criteria I use when looking at profiles. We have several great conversations in IM, that moves on to the phone... and an amazingly good first date. I even got a kiss at the end.

Well, fast-forward to now... We've seen each other two or three times a week for the last couple months. She's officially my girlfriend, and we get along like gangbusters. I never would have thought I'd find someone I'd have this much 'POW' with on a crappy intertubes dating website.

Actually I'm going to have to detract everything I said. We split up today.

Early last week Christie's brother informed her that he didn't pay the rent last month and they were getting booted. So I made arrangements for her to move in with me. I Go over last night to help pack/move and she's screaming and throwing things around like a crazy person. :wtf I quietly excused myself from the apartment and laid rubber in the Dodge like the devil was chasing me.

Today she texted me saying she's decided to move to Modesto to live with her mom. My response after seeing last night's horror show? "Well, you have fun with that." And that, kids... is that. 99 problems, learning experience, etc...

Time to reactivate my profiles on PoF and OkC.

That there's your problem....

Sorry man, better to learn now then later right?

Glad you found out BEFORE she moved in! Congrats on dodging a bullet like that :thumbup

Her brother didn't pay rent. She doesn't have a job to help out with it?

Very true, I'm glad I got rid of her now rather than find out she's batshit crazy six months down the road when she's moved in and trenched herself deeply in my life. Getting rid of her at that point would be like trying to cut out a raging cancer...

But all she did was throw stuff at her brother after he didn't pay rent and kinda "forgot" to tell her? Hope she hit him with a cast iron pot. :laughing

You never really know someone until you've seen how they react to stress. It's often a big wake-up call. Glad you saw it in time!

That's true. You also learn a lot about yourself when you are in a relationship and under stress. If you are lucky you don't fuck shit up, not so lucky you learn from the experience, and in worst case left wondering what a hell happened.

*They use of "you" is plural/generic. :)

Well... it's not like there are single women hanging out on BARF who are date-worthy... and I don't date derby girls. And you don't date women you work with... it's not like that leaves me a lot of options outside of trying online dating.
