Its impossible. Either this is a site for adults, or its a super heavily moderated site that is family friendly.

Too much stuff here isn't family friendly. Too much sex talk, too many curse words.

Did you see the thread that was just locked where guys were saying well used vagina looks like roast beef? How will that stuff fly on a family site?

If you ask me, this place should be more like a biker bar. With occasional fights, but then people make up. Leave the family stuff on facebook.

As another old timer here I believe that there are more cool individuals than assholes on this Board but there have been long periods of time when the assholes take over and the Board becomes rather childish and dull.

I would never ever not attend a party because a moderator from this Board might be present-that's some wicked stupid crap.

I have been shunned by individuals from BARF and it is equally as silly.

I think that we are all much friendlier in person.

The old timers and the new members equally have a voice on this Board and the culture is in constant flux due to individuals joining up and leaving. If I hear someone mocked because they are new or haven't been here long enough to know an old member I might just BARF myself.

My rant is over for now.

You could tell me to go pump my mudder, and I could tell you to eff yourself, but to me it's just the type of chat that goes with the territory. I'd never hold any of this stuff against anyone 'in real life'. :)

Lurking vs. posting

I have been reading the old BARF since around '05. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing and felt a little intimidated by the clique mentality and the over the top "representing" at track days (monster two finger stickers covering and entire truck window).

What prompted me to join was to refute the notion that AlanRider was a god among wrenches after several negative experiences with his work by me and others. The mob rose up to shout me down but many quietly agreed and mods PMed me to say "point made, no need to drive it into the ground", or in other words, STFU for now. OK.

Although I've thought HumanIlls posts are tedious and sometimes confrontational, that's what he's about. If you can't control yourself, step away, or as he said, use the ignore feature. I know there is a whole bunch of people who won't even see this post, and I'm OK with that...NApe

Btw, will someone, ANYONE please post there and relate that I did not ask to be suspended, nor deleted. I was having a dialog with Budman on pm's. I said my piece, which included the phrase "I'd probably delete my account if I could". I never got a response to my points to him. Just a perma-ban. Apparently he didn't like my opinion in pm's. Not ... See Morethat I care to go back, but I"m tired of hearing "he asked to be banned". (I would prefer to have had my entire presence there deleted, not just suspended)
