Shawn-

That's some crazy shite, mate. Do you mind explaining how you recovered from that? Or do you just have to wear extremely strong corrective lenses?

My best friend is legally blind; nearsighted -11/-10 in her right/left eyes respectively. They finally developed contacts strong enough for her to wear around 1992. It dramatically changed her life from being the "coke bottle wearin' nerd" to the "class hottie." :laughing

That's amazing. Same thing happened to me, but evidently I had my sunglasses on or something. I always wondered if there were other people who got zapped in the womb...

I have always had to wear glasses ever since i was little or since about 1988 in which my glasses were about 1 1/2 inch thick. So as of right now as im sitting here typing i have a estigmatism of about -25 and im legally blind without my glasses. I somehow passed my dl tests and have been riding my whole life which made getting my m1 very easy. i have waited my whole life to hopefully get my eyes fixed because of the severity of my eye situation. I have never been able to play any sports or do anything fun like that. Crahing is always a big thing not for the physcial harm on my body but hitting my head and seperating my retna from my eye.

My eye doctor would always tell me that "oh on your 18th bday you would be elgible to get lasik" so i go to her on my 18th and she says that the fda hasnt approved anything to correct my severe eye problem. so im pissed and so come around this time last year we go to see an additional doctor to get a referral to see a specialist. We get referred to some guy (dr.wilmarth) who does a procedure called (ICL) Inaccular contact lens which is an implant behind the lens of the eye correcting up to -18 estigmatism. so we go to him and set up an apoointment and i get the news that this is the procedure that can fix me. Happy i am until i found out that my insurance will not pay for this surgery because they think it is cosmetic? i tell them to go fuck a goat and so here comes my 20th bday july 15th and what do i recieve in the mail? on my bday? the approval from the insurance company to have all visits and the surgery performed.. probably the greatest bday present ever. (surgery costing more than $9,000)

After they put the lenses in my eyes i will still need lasik to perfect my vision , which we are hoping to be 20/20. My surgery is scheduled tentaivly for sep 19th which will one of the most life changing things to ever happen to me. im excited as you can probably tell and wanted to see if anybody has heard of this before? i will be the worst case in the whole US that has tried out the ICL so im hoping it goes well

if i do not have the surgery chances are that my eyes will deterrioarate and weill eventually go blind so . i think this is the right choice
