I haven't gotten 3 diamonds on slot machine. I played and delayed the last bit of sun forever, but eventually the game says "fuck you you're done" and just launches an unbeatable wave of zombies at you.

I got the first Plants vs Zombies HD for free and enjoyed many months of fun with it, so I'm ok with paying for stuff in the new one.

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I downloaded it at lunch time. It's fun so far. The plant food thing is kind of a hoot. I'm just bummed that it only lets you hold 3 at a time. I hope there is a way to upgrade that in the future.

OK. Now I see what Mike was talking about. If you add up all the costs for the plant upgrades plus all the feature upgrades, it totals out to be $33.90. I don't mind paying a little bit for an app. But, I'm not gonna pay $33.90 to have access to all the features of this game. I'm deleting it not before I get too addicted and can't help but pay for the options.

By the way, I was wrong. All that stuff is only necessary to buy if you're too lazy to actually play through the game. It turns out that you basically earn everything as you play through the game. No need to buy anything.

great now you made me want to go get the game and burn endless hours playing it
It's even more addicting than the first one, but you can't just relax and play it. Things are happening fast and there's a lot of stuff going on at the same time.
There were times in the other game where I wished that there were a button to speed up play. In this one, there are lots of times where I wish it would slow down a bit.

Completed pirates and Egypt but working on stars to unlock old west. Made it up to 7-8 in both challenge levels - that's where you get extra keys almost every level to unlock stuff.

I see what you mean now. I've got enough stars now to unlock the Old West levels, but I'm still playing the challenge levels because they're fun. I'm on level 9 right now and still going.
With the challenge levels, here's my secret to a guaranteed win:
1. Choose the 200 coin card if available.
2. Use the coins to set up a double sunflower thingy.
3. Us the plant food to make the double sunflower spit out $450-ish.
4. Kick ass.
The springy bean is now my favorite plant. These things make life so much easier against the buckethead zombies that were harder than heck to kill with the pea shooters.
