Porn vs. Nudity

I have always found F4iChic's avatar to be very beautiful and sensual, definitely a work of art and not of base erotica.

Unfortunately, she's right that it shall probably be deemed improper and removed.

Is the avatar porn or nudity?
 
I remember going to my friends dad garage as a kid with my friends (sometimes girls as well) , and recall seeing his walls covered in bikini clad women on motorcycles and the requisite Playboy centerfold displayed for the month. His wife would sit and talk motorcycles, women, sex, relationships as we sat on the bikes and he tinkered with the carbs and such. Nobody grew up tainted or damaged. Today's neighborhoods could only WISH to have the good feeling freedoms we piss on today. The socially, pugnacious indignation that brews in a confused generation, hoping to engineer a perfect world to those forever offended.

Barf and its current format reminds me of those good ol' days. IMO A Barf lockdown would severely hurt the character, and color of the content and participants because of either a fearful, or kneejerk, politically correct over-reaction assailing the inherent male libido, and appreciation for the other sex. It IS the mingling of the similar experience between motorsports, cycles, and how we relate to women ultimately. The art, the competition, the care, the obsession, the raw sex, and the different temperments...like different bikes.

Want to keep BARF lively, fun, and long lasting? Or do you want to kill a community for a ton of people who take it lightly, and usually don't go to far? Depends on how far the powers at be feel they want to take away a huge part of the human condition we all play into, female and male by putting a Burka on the content, and repressing like other cultures have to take away the ultimate beauty bestowed on this great Earth.

To your point (and you raise a few good ones) when the complaint was initially launched, I never got the message that the female body was bad and we should never see one on barf again, but that as of late most discussions around the subject had descended into something not far out of the reach of a junior high boy's locker room, where the discussions in question either objectified or disrespected the ladyfolk on this board. When you were hanging in your friend's garage, you never objectified your friend's mother, and she was included in the conversations about bikes and etc.

Like with so many other things, its all about balance.

Keep in mind, that although some BARF related issues have been brought up in this thread, as far as I know, the OP's intent was not to discuss it as it pertains to BARF, at least that's how I read it. So please don't think that a perceived consensus here would affect the board in the way you might think.

There are many issues being discussed by the mods as far as how we can change the board for the better.

Images posted on BARF and how we will handle them is one. BTW, for clarification, the board was never meant to be PG-13, images directly posted on the board and used as avatars was and still is.

The objectification of men and women, misogyny/misandry;

Postwhoring will need to be addressed yet again, as will attentionwhoring, and threads devoted thereto.

You are correct. This thread was not intended to discuss photos posted on Barf. It was intended to discuss porn vs. nudity in society. But that can include TV, internet, and almost anywhere.

It just seems that everyone is quick to blurt out "Pornography" whenever there is a portrayal of nudity displayed anywhere in America without stopping to think about it.
