was told the chains could get loose enough to rip out the ABS electronics and likely

Holy cow first time I hear that. I knew damage was possible but didn't know to what.

So basically I drove the whole Yuba and donner pass in a 2wd with huge crossection tires with snow cables.

After I removed the cables... The steering felt as if super planted . As if both tires went block-flat and when I nudge the wheel it just fights me. :(

Made it so far
I have tire blankets.
Gotta look up what's that

I can't imagine chains messing up alignment, maybe you have snow built up on the wheels that is throwing the balance way off?

you’re well past us now, so if you get stuck, can’t probably be much help. but if you need to reverse direction, and need a place to sleep, let me know - i’m up until approximately 1am. we are 10 miles south of auburn on foresthill road (well below the current snow line).

I can see improperly sized or improperly installed chains catching on suspension parts and messing things up. But it’s likely a rare occurrence.

Thanks so much! We're at Tahoe by now -- was aiming for the Hotel.
But yeah I considered that it was a pretty bad weather and maybe I did the wrong travel and reservation.

So the cables were treading on snow for quite a while on highway 80 so at least that was ...on purpose. But the initial few miles were on asphalt of course, as Calltrans wanted it.

For now we'll see if Nevada Tahoes icy roads will be a problem tomorrow. I've taken the cables off.

These are actually huge wheels for the size of the car. 255R19 . So turns out it's kinda badly purposed for snow --didnt know that when I was buying it used. So I bought the thinnest cables, apparently each link needs 6mm whatever of clearance. They're SCC Super Z6 chains/cables brand / model(Sz143).

maybe you have snow built up on the wheels
Dunno, maybe ? :dunno
Looks like it makes up for a good story though!
Maybe the clearance is so tight ... That even those cables are too much strain

Will be posting in the Grab Bag Free but figured I'd post it here first.

Do you have a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer?

If so would you like the meat grinder attachment?

Like new and my wife has used it to make ground lamb etc. and sausages. You can make sausage with or without buying casings. My wife makes without casing every year for Thanksgiving stuffing but has also made lamb Koftas with casing and they are awesome.

Why are we getting rid of it when we use it?

My wife saw the metal version on sale so bought it even though the plastic one works great.

I can mail to you or you can pickup.

I bought a metal one, but I think I lost one of the plates. Also, it doesn't seem to have the part where you load the meat into it.

I am actually getting a whole pig in the next week or two. It's at the butcher right now. I already have some guanciale curing and plan on making some salami.

I'll take that. I was about to buy a new one.
Cool, let me know if you want to pick up here in Santa Rosa at some point or mail to you.

Either way just PM me you phone number if you are going to pick up in the next few weeks or your address and I'll mail to you USPS.
