"Hey, they are going to cut power to the building the day you are focusing and programming lights, that won't be a problem for you will it?"

Koitney's face ~ :wtf

Second chosen programming day they city has cut power.

You mean nobody knew this schedule before?

as they say, shit runs down hill. His manager is stressed so my supervisor is stressed. Now I am stressed.
But it will all be forgotten in a few years. I wish I did not give the situation so much power.
Well that precisely what a good manager should avoid, "shit" should stop at them. At least thats what I have always believed in.

I worked at jobs I didn't like for years so my kids wouldn't lose their health coverage. But since I have little to no filter, everyone involved was always fully aware of my thoughts on the situation. :laughing

My wife is the breadwinner while I enjoy the sahd life because her insurance is amazing.

I might be able to match pay but I'll never get that through... tips.

most managers in the US, like 95% of them, have had no management training, especially in any government job. Your average E-5 in the military has had more management training than most CEOs or department directors. Most managers get there because they're the next person in line and they'll tend to manage like the person they're replacing.

The only reason I finished my business degree was because I was working for unqualified schmucks with degrees.

When you get home and you were just happy about the early day and just wanted a beer.

Like Nate's drain problems, but bigger. On top of all maybe it's not even me...

... Someone else was running two loads of laundry and then there was a damn spot and this is from the third load of laundry. :facepalm

Well once trust in the team is built, you can really say whatever you want. In other words, candor comes after trust and candor does not mean toxic workplace. Candor and psychological safety go hand in hand actually.

how are you, buddy? How's the knee coming along?
Doing Ok. The knee hurts a bit, but not too bad now. Have a follow-up appointment tomorrow, where I’ll get stitches out and perhaps get cleared to begin putting a little weight on it. Doing exercises has been pretty easy; the hard part has been to not over-do anything. This repair would be easy to wreck until the healing really gets underway and with cartilage, that takes a while. While there might be sensible limits once healed, I should be able to do anything I would normally do, without worrying the thing will lock.

I tried to time this so I’d have a fighting chance to ski or ice climb this winter. We’ll see how that goes.

have you modified your diet at all to account for this healing? or are you still a sardine snacking man?

I’m eating lightly, but emphasizing protein and veggies. Sadnines now and then, as they’re a quick snack and very bioavailable. Eggs, cottage cheese, fruit, etc. Since the surgery, I’ve lost almost ten pounds. Trying to ride the catabolic wave, but eat enough protein that my body won’t break down its own muscle for the amino acids it needs to heal. So far, I think it’s working. The combination of fixing the knee while getting lighter is good.

That all sounds positive and I like that for you.
