Pot smoking cagers

Our DA won't even charge Marijuana DUI. There are set limits that a person can have in their blood for drugs, just like BAC for alcohol. X number of micrograms per milliliter depending on the drug.

Also remember that possessing marijuana in the vehicle or smoking while driving is different than DUI.
Why won't they prosecute? How is it different, except that we have very specific quantified rules for what is considered driving while intoxicated.

If MADD was "Mommies Against Dumb Dopers", I bet things would be different.

They won't because they can't get 12 people to agree that smoking pot while driving is a crime.

because one of your jurors will be this guy:

ive never felt in danger when getting into a car with someone that habitually smokes marijuana and is under the influence. if someone is drinking alcohol, i wont even get in the car with them regardless of their tolerance or if someone rarely smokes marijuana and wants to drive i would advise against it.

hell, drunk people can barely walk. stoned people walk really slowly and cautiously which translates to their driving ability.

not trying to justify or advocate smoking and driving, i just dont think its as big of a problem as drinking and/or distracted driving.

because one of your jurors will be this guy:
You just haven't lived until you rip the keys out of the ignition of a moving car, because your bud is so buzzed on bud, you wonder how you even got out of the driveway.

It is a very strange attitude that society is developing toward this particular drug. I hope we get it handled like alcohol. But, that seems to still be up-in-the-air with everyone that is high. :laughing

How come we never have any media accounts of people driving while stoned on pot and the repercussions involved with such behavior?

Because Pot is good, booze is bad, and no one gives a shit.

It takes mad skillz using a bong while texting and driving with your knee...:laughing

Everyone on BARF has them mad skillz...right? So, LEOs, add on question, have you ever busted a moto rider that was stoned?
BARF stoners, why would you ever smoke and ride?
One more scenario for all to ponder. This is a serious question and yes, I know most marijuana is not smoked for it's 'medicinal' value, but there are many studies that show it is effective in treating many serious diseases and conditions.
What if someone was using marijuana that was virtually free of THC and high in CBD to treat whatever serious ailment they might have? They wouldn't really be under the influence, as far as being psychoactively altered, but they surely would reek.
Besides showing no signs of impairment, what evidence might you accept or reject in their argument that they are not impaired after you have pulled them over and smelled the pungent odor of MJ?
I am planning on growing just such a strain for an acquaintance that has liver cancer and he swears that juicing with pot really makes him feel better and his oncologist says his tumors are shrinking. He does not smoke it(and at 71 years old he doesn't plan to start), so no pungent reeking, but I would still recommend he not drive while dosing.

Rebound dilation of the pupil is a tell tale sign of THC actively in the system and pulling up to TacoBell at 11PM and ordering 20 tacos...

Because they want the vote of people 18-30.

driving a cage in traffic is boring so a nice blunt on the way to or from work is quite nice

Would I be out of line to suggest that marijuana usage tends to be less of an impairment than alcohol for most of its users? Makes complete sense for law enforcement to evaluate users similar to that of alcohol DUI - I just would hope that people are 'checking out' as being okay to drive more than not.

Some people can handle it, some people can't. :2cents

Incomparable unless you can somehow match servings. Most folks could drink a beer and drive just fine, just like most folks could take a baby hit and drive just fine. But. what does ten beers equate to in weed? I have no clue, but if it really equates, then it's probably just as bad, or the difference is insignificant.

As a grower and a math buff(when I haven't been smokin), if I did the calculations right then a 200 pound football player drinking ten beers in 24 minutes will be just as high as a 120 pound woman that does 3 weeds in 68 minutes.
If the woman does 3 weeds and then tries to do math, it will be the same as if she actually did 5 weeds...:party

Is rebound dilation of the pupil a tell tale sign of CBD actively in the system?
Just wondering if any of the LEOs here have heard/read anything about this because some of the 'medicines' will have virtually no THC and may have high levels of CBD. If rebound dilation is due to CBD in the system, and THC isn't present, is there anything a Drug Recognition Expert Officer could do to detect this other than a blood/urine test?
I have googled this and found many articles on differentiating different intoxicants, but have not found much on the effects or testing for CBD.

Plenty of people die due to driving while stoned every year, sometimes its not just their passengers that die.....

How many is 'plenty'?

Do you have a legitimate source for your claim, or is is just your opinion?

We didn't have CBDs when I took DRE class.:afm199
