GOP Reps. Want Charges Dropped Against SEALs Accused of Abusing Terror Suspect

This makes me ill. If anyone had a clue to what these guys go through to become SEALS, and the shit jobs we ask them to do in the dark, it would make them sick too. Hanging these guys out to dry, and giving constitutional rights to terrorists is a travesty.

I give credit to these guys for not just wasting this scumbag and claiming self defense. It took a lot of HONOR to bring this turd back to our justice system knowing that he will live a nice life with 3 hots and a cot for the rest of his natural life. I salute them for the integrity it took to bring him back alive. :flag

hmmmm you train and pay some guys to do a job not many can, to go into areas with no support and to do deeds that most people couldn't even find the moral strength to do and then.....

incriminate them

weak America, simply weak

btw I worked along side Seal Team 1 on Ford Island for 2 years... I helped with their procurement and their submarine boarding/training (this was my collateral duty.) These guys are simply amazing. Most are incredibly intelligent and they are all very, very fast learns.
I could tell stories all day long about these guys...

I don't recall the details of this, can you post them so that we have the full picture?

But then they'd have to kill you:laughing

some stories I will carry to my grave... but others I can tell

going to the commissary on a beer run at 8 am :rofl and having a Commander stop us. We were in uniform... well I was his was a bit misshapen because he had just returned from a deployment... it carried no rank no name nothing, just a blank uniform, and he had a FULL beard, oh and he still had his side arm with him (which didn't help matters at all.)

Needless to say the Commander didn't prevent us from buying the beer, but by the time we got back, Admiral Konetzni (Big Al as he preferred to be called) had already been informed and was waiting for us in the hangar bay... He could have cared less and proceeded to have a beer with us.

remind me to tell you this story in person!!! it actually reminds me of the scene in Blackhawk down when the delta ranger is getting food and says "this is my safety"

Seals and Rangers live and die by their own set of rules

Ridiculous, especially considering what treatment prisoners get when we hand Taliban to the Pakistanis for interrogation...or suspects to the Iraqis.

I'm guessing their techniques go far beyond a little roughing up or waterboarding, for that matter.

Patton must be rolling over in his grave.

Beat hippies, publicly and regularly.
From what I can see from the story, it's not hippies doing this to them. It is the officers.

And, even if this happening because of the wish of Obama (I haven't heard anything to support this), the officers could have stood up to his Administration and his Administration would have likely backed down on the issue. So, from my perspective it is the officers in the military who are responsible for this.

We are supposed to be above torture. Waterboarding is torture.

On one hand, I think that it makes us better than the terrorists that we DO give constitutional rights to them. Mercy is an advanced trait, and I think that when we have them in this country, it is to our benefit that we give them the full protection of the constitution they hate.

Once we have them in country...

What happens to them before, and how they get here, we can afford to be a bit more flexible about. :devil

Yep, the pricks at the top now "coming to the aid" of the same SEALs they sent into the fray.

Gross hypocracy.

The dude received mercy, in the form of only being roughed up when captured, unlike the treatment of the Blackwater operators of whom he is suspected of killing.

If I had reasonable intel to believe that the guy was responsible for killing one of ours, I'd waste the motherfucker in a new york minute, and so would any of the guys in my unit. This whole trial is a PR circus.

And this is exactly why I said these guys showed extreme honor and integrity to bring this guy back alive. Imagine how hard it was for them knowing this douche was responsible for hanging a fellow SEAL upside down, burnt, on a bridge in some shit hole city in Iraq.

Are Blackwater ops anything more than mere mercs?

They'll know to put someone like that down like you would a rabid dog, next time. This could lead to a case where we won't be getting too many douche's like this taken into custody very often in the future, and I'm ok with that.
