And before y'all string me up I am in absolute agreement that he needs to pay for what he bought. I just think there is more going on here than has been said so far.

That seems to be the reality of it. It's a transaction gone bad. HP needs to stop posting and start acting. I haven't read every post in detail so I'm not sure if she has already filed in small claims or waiting but that is likely her best option. As stated earlier, followed by a garnished wages.

To be fair, a 30year old with no job and sleeping on any available sofa likely won't care about the judgement against him thus you'll need to find a way to reposses the property and take him to small claims for usage/damages.

Agreed. The ONLY acceptable response in my mind would be for Dove to pay off what he owes in cash to the OP.
 
It is interesting to read the various pov contained in this thread.
My hope is that it works out for the 2 individuals involved.

What makes me uncomfortable is the threats to bring 81 into this or that some folks want to lead a lynch mob with the possible intent to hurt someone based on what has been stated here. Can ya'll consider that threatening to harm Dove is not the right way to go?

What I think is funny are the people who come on here and say to keep your mouth shut and to let them work it out. Yeah, cause that has done wonders so far, hasn't it?

Two things are clear: 1) He has her bike that 2) he hasn't paid for. Is anyone disputing that??? Don't think so.

With that said, his only comments in here included he hasn't done a damn thing wrong. Does that really sound like someone who wants to work it out? She has tried to work it out, he doesn't sound like he is going to pay or give it back. Why not enlist the help of some BARFers and let his friends know what is going on? It can only help her either get paid or get the bike back. He has clearly shown he doesn't plan on doing either.

I don't think anyone has condoned or suggested the use of violence. Several people, including myself, have stated that they would gladly help pick up the bike from the perpetrator (yes, that is what he is). Several people gave him a deadline, that came and went.
 
I don't believe that I have misinterpreted the intent of some to use force to retrieve the bike but I am a bit more sensitive to the idea that violence is a good idea.

I would never want someone to use violence against another in my name and I can imagine that op is not comfortable with the idea that some BARFers would consider doing so.

I can't speak for others, but I certainly never intended to give the impression that I would cause injury or threaten to do so in any way.

I haven't been in a fight since I was 16. I'm not about to over someone else's stuff.

The thread has all the right ingredients for bringing out the wanna-be vigilante in some of us. OP is a woman, popular with many, evidently trusting, etc. The accusation involves a bike, something most of us would get hot about. Dove's actions, if portrayed accurately, are somewhere between shady and criminal. There is the possibility of an offsetting side of the story but nobody in the know sees fit to share it, so people are drawing conclusions based on what information is available. At least one guy is offering alternate scenarios as a creative writing exercise.

If HP were a guy, we'd have maybe a two page thread with a few people telling him to sack up and go get his bike. As it is, everyone wants to be the guy that solves the problem and wins the OP's favor. A few people started running to get the pitchforks and pickup trucks, but cooler heads weighed in and said that regardless of what Dove has or hasn't done, there had better not be violence done to him.

I'd still like to see HP and CD get back in communication and work it out. In the meantime, I'll flap my arms and try to fly to the moon.
