PSA: Update your iphones/ipads, and avoid public wifi on OSX for now

JFYl, my update of the MACos to like 10.9.0.2 "Super Flying Cat "*, went through successfully. Thanks to above who mentioned the .02 is out for the macos, too.

the ipad's update to 7.0.6 two days ago also went through fine, but I heard on the net one of my friend's phone got bricked. uh oh

I updated my iPhone and the bluetooth to the car stereo sounds like listening to a radio through a tunnel, tried every setting on the phone, different apps and settings on the stereo to no improvement… not stoked

Probably your HD is starting to go. A portion of it got corrupted.

If the hard drive was starting to corrupt data, if be really surprised if it was doing anything as high-level as changing directory names. That's pretty specific.

Dubs, can you provide more detail?

Someone please update the subject...it's a bit misleading.

You can use OSX just fine...with Chrome or Firefox, since neither uses the built-in validator.

Just don't run Safari, and really, who still runs Safari, anyway?

I use safari for BARF on my phone. Sorry, BARF, all your base are belong to MitM

I have not updated in a long time for just that reason. My iPhone 3 turned into a paperweight when I updated it a couple years ago.

But the security issues were enough to motivate me this time, so I updated. It went fine, but I dislike the new iOS layout.

Same boat. I don't care about the cloud, but I like the do not disturb feature.

But wtf is going on here? Did they completely kill off flash in safari? When there's a post with an embedded YouTube video, it's just blank.

Please keep in mind that this patch only provides the user with a warning that they are about to use an invalid or untrusted cert SSL connection.
If the user OKs it and you've got a crappy authentication scheme like Microsoft's Outlook web Access/Activesync, then you can still be pwnd.

Doing a little MITM testing at work this morning. The blurred portions are cleartext credentials that were wrapped in SSL.
