Use it without the numbered guards, it removes everything but a sandpaper stubble.

I shaved a couple days ago so I'm already behind the curve.
 
dudes lol. my SO started going native about 18 months ago. he has always gone back and forth through phases, and was rocking the stockbroker look for a couple of years prior to that (clean shaven and super trimmed short hair). and prior to that it was terrorist (to the point he had difficulty passing through international airports without being profiled, pulled aside and interrogated). after the clean cut bit, he pulled a full reverse, and is sailing around the homeless look. his hair is over a foot long now, and every week or two he stands out in the garden and runs a coarse horse trimmer over his face. a couple of days ago he said he was getting in the shower and asked if i’d cut his hair when he got out (i’ve always cut his hair). i was surprised he wanted it cut and asked how short - and he said short short. when he got out of the shower i had my kit ready, he looks at me and says he’s changed his mind (that impulse lasted about 10 minutes lol).
