I've seen various people wearing these. They seem convenient. Any real downsides? Brand suggestions?

You’re just jealous that we can remove our goggles with one hand wiles. Get on the bandwagon man! I love my quickstraps.

The other day I had my first qs malfunction when the sticker came off. I think it got frozen and wet the week before. Other than that I have never had a problem with them.

They are totally worth it. Snap off and easy on.

The sticky Velcro wears out after a year but you can use any old Velcro. The straps last forever.

No fumbling for the goggles, always in same place. No strap hanging around your neck.

I have had them unstrap 3 times: one I hit a tree branch and the branch grabbed where it Velcro’s to helmet. And two other times because I half assed putting it on and it unvelcroed itself.

If I was a pro racer, I’d stick with real straps to prevent any issue like this. As a trail rider or any casual racer, the quick strap set up is phenomenal. You can find them on eBay for cheap too.

I can definitely take my goggles off with one hand. Just reach back, grasp the strap, and pull them over my helmet. If there is an advantage, it's that you can put them on with one hand. But I have never felt that needing two hands to don my goggles was a hinderance.

So both you and Micheal have had the goggles come off your face with the Quick Strap? Despite their primary function being to keep the goggles on your face? Guess how many times my goggles have come off...?

I see Factory Effex and Roko. Maybe they're the same company or something, I don't know.

Oh yeah, you are right. I've only ever seen people using the one that says Quick Strap on the strap.

There is only one brand that I know of. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/roko-goggle-quick-straps-p

I think they are stupid. What problem do they solve? How do they make your experience better?

Pretty much every time the group stops, I take my goggles off. I don't have any problem operating a normal goggle strap.

I can take mine off and put them on while moving. That is probably the biggest bonus. The other thing is that I’ll never drop them because they are attached to my head. Love ‘em!

Clearly, we need a point/counterpoint video demonstration from you guys.

I tried them for a year or so.
If you ride the deep dark stuff, you will find they get ripped off your face, as others have said.
If you race, you wouldn't want them getting torn off your face.
I also felt that they were never as tight on the helmet as a regular strap.
For casual trail riding, they are very convenient and you never misplace your goggles!

They come off easily with one hand and can be refit less easily with one hand.

When you start huffing and puffing you can reach up and let them dangle to get more airflow to your face.

When you come to an intersection you can R&R them easily while yelling at your riding buddies.

A branch may dislodge the velcro side. Nothing will dislodge the post side. The velcro wears out and replacement kits are available. I feel QS-equipped goggles don't press or seal as firmly to my face, but maybe it's due to the cheap Scotts I've been using for years now.

Scott used to have a co-marketing QS/Goggle bundle but now they make their own variation.

:laughing I'm with you Wiles. Tried them 10 years ago when I got them as a Christmas gift. Prefer the firmer fitment of the traditional strap.

In the rare occasion where I ride without them on my eyes, I just flip em around on my helmet ala Jarvis style and dont have to worry about them flapping or being torn off by a branch.

Junkie, they arent expensive. Try them out, you might like them. Lots of folks seem to.

I got a pair because I wear glasses under my goggles. Problem is I can't see detail on my GPS with my glasses on (I'm nearsighted). With these I can remove the goggles, lift up my glasses to see my GPS, then put everything back in place. While moving. Impossible with regular straps.

Downside is taking them off at speed (I'm wearing glasses, so still have eye protection). They flop around like crazy. Have to stop and remove them completely.

I have been able to use a hair drier to remove the sticky thing and reapply it on a new helmet. I have not had much of a problem with it getting torn off much, maybe twice in 10+ years. It takes a little patience to place the velcro in exactly the right spot so that you have the perfect amounts of tension. I like it so I can attach it loosely to allow air to pass under them sometimes, and tighter when it’s dusty. I should also add that when you ride with them dangling it tends to scratch the lenses as they bang against the helmet and what not.

I do the one handed wrap around the back move and re attach to the velcro so no flapping. :thumbup

Good tip. I'll try that with mine or just go buy some more velcro.:cool

I like them.

I use it on my dirtbike helmet works grear don't really see any downsides to it. Just rip it off when you want the goggles off and let em hang. If you don't want them in the eyeport just put them on backwards. I don't use one on my dualsport helmet because I have a lotta crap attached to my helmet and don't use the goggles all the time.
