The little pricks did the same to my grapes. I was watching the grapes every day to harvest at just the right moment. How the fuque diid they know I was planning on harvesting the next day. They cleaned out the vines and left most of the grapes on the ground and it looked like they took one bite out of each grape and left the rest. I was willing to share but they had to be malicious and greedy.
I trapped and relocted 3 of the little assholes.
We were gone for one night and those 'coons took ALL of our grapes. I mean 100%, we had probably 25-30 pounds out there and you cannot find one single piece of a grape in the 70' row. It really amazed me that they were able to do such a complete job and so quickly. Must have had a bucket brigade of grapes to pull it off. Clever bastards!
I spoke with someone today who was very involved in orphaned raccoons. He has offered to help relocate them legally.arty
We will start randomly leaving kibble and water in the giant dog crate getting them acclimated. Hopefully in another week I can start letting the cats have freedom again.

Late to thread. I had a raccoon shit in my pool. Figured I would trap it and move it to another area. NOT IN CA. It is illegal to move a raccoon, your trap needs a number from the Fish and Game Dept. If you catch one you must kill it on the spot. There are licensed trappers and they will bring out a trap for $300 and $100 each time he empties it. I just may do something and tell no one.
Below from Fish and Game. Raccoons are fur-bearing animals and fall under CDFG.
Daily Bag and Possession Limits
There is no Daily Bag Limit or Possession Limit for hunting or trapping raccoons in California. See 14 CCR § 464(b).
Warning shot!!! If you legally injure or trap a raccoon in California, you have to kill it immediately. See 14 CCR § 251.5(c).
Live Raccoons
In general, it’s illegal to import, transport, or possess live raccoons. One exception is with a permit from the CDFW and to meet any additional requirements by your city and county. If you’re allowed to possess a live raccoon, you have to meet minimum standards for the facility (e.g. limbs, nest boxes, caging, shelters, floors, and walls). See 14 CCR § 671 and 14 CCR § 671.3(a)(10) and (b)(2)(K).
