Damn, I read all of this this morning then went for a ride and got on with my life. Put the race on after SNF and even though I knew what was going to happen it shocked the hell out of me still when I saw it. Didn't realize it was that early in the race and the suddenness and violence of the crash was just jarring.

Nothing good ever happens when the helmet comes off, that's how my friend Martin died as well.

RIP Simoncelli. I was just talking about his season yesterday with another GP fan. He was trying so hard and he was doing pretty well. He was young too

I am in Milan right now. They keep showing the accident on TV. I couldn't help but cry into my breakfast when they showed the footage here in the hotel's breakfast room.

His face is on the front page of all the papers. It is only 7:20 am here on Monday so I am sure this will be discussed more throughtout the day here.

RIP Simoncelli . How weird to be here in the land of your birth right now.

I lit a candle that I had made this afternoon for Marco. It started its burn slowly, but the flame grew large, bright almost out of control. It was a lovely reflection of his spirit. A few minutes ago I learned of Joe Montoya's passing. As I went outside to soothe my grief with the beauty of the stars, the candle blazed, then went out.

Tonight the sky was magnificent. I could reach out and caress the stars, they seemed so close. I sat there, letting my tears cool the ground beneath me. I saw two meteors, their tails crossing briefly as they raced across this beautiful darkness. I couldn't help but thinking that Marco was showing Joe some new lines through the heavens. I'm smiling through the tears, and bid these two noble men a blessed rest.

Ride freely and with The Wild Hunt among the Stars on the other side of night, Marco. Your spirit and brash, all or nothing style will be very very missed by all that watched you ride. I cannot express the love of riding that you gave me from watching you.
