RIP Ozzy

My first time seeing Black Sabbath was at Winterland way back in '73 or 74. I was engaged immediately being right up on the stage in front of Geezer Butler so Ozzy was to my right. Fucking amazing.. never seen anything close. Tried to see them every time they came back and saw Ozzy doing his solo thing several more times before again seeing them reunite. END OF DAYS Tour amazed me at how much they still were the same. Since Ozzy never was doing crazy athletic shit on stage it seemed like they still were the same.

Today its official. :(

Even the Mrs. called to tell me.

Condolences to all his fans that will miss his ass. :rose
Duuude. You got to be there.

Jammer and I both. It was epic. Had the Sabbath bloody Sabbath album playing in my parents rumpus room constantly.

Getting to see them live was super anticipated and fucking sweet as F or leaf. :teeth.

Had to get to the front.

my very first album was "Paranoid" that I found on the side of the road as 9yo me walked home from school.

I often wonder how it came to be there where I picked it up. did someone loose it? did someone's parent loose it for them? fate?

slapped it on daddy's turntable ... mind blown

Ozzy dressed up and looking good there Jesse!

My son asked me if I wanted to go to Birmingham for his final show. I told him why would I want to go to Alabama...

He said.. Dude Dad it is in England. While the sound is not great this is close as I will get.
The crowd singing along is pretty cool. He left a mark on metal... sort of like invented it.

You can see where he wanted to get out of his chair and just could not. His heart wanted too, but his body said no more sweet Prince of Darkness.

I know I was listening to him in the 4th grade.....I saw him at shoreline, and a few other spots (hazy ass memories).....

He is the Godfather of Metal. His music is in my head; MR. TINKERTRAIN! I can hum all the tunes and sing almost all the songs by ear.... From Randy Rhoads to Zakk Wylde it was always epic melody and pure music. He was also a good dude aside from all his substance abuse...really sad to see him go.....may he find the Road to somewhere that leads to eternal peace....

Good one for sure.

See you on the other side is what played when I toasted Ozzy this afternoon.

My mother is a religious woman, myself and my brother were listening to Black Sabbath one day after school, NIB was playing and my mother started paying attention to the lyrics. She came storming into the room splashing holy water on us and telling us never to play that record again.
We had been listening to that album for a couple of years at least, weird how the lyrics somehow caught her attention that day. She had bigger things to worry about, we kept listening.

This audio popped up on my drive in today. On Sports talk no less.
The YouTube below does not show Ozzy standing on a chair blowing kisses to the crowd, but also the clip in the independent does not include a good joke by the President at the end.

Ozzy stealing the show at the Whitehouse Correspondents dinner.

Go to 1:21 for Ozzy's introduction. GDub has to wait for the crowd to stop clapping to mention his songs.

Maybe I am more tuned in to his passing because I am a big fan, but it seems to have really.... he really... touched a lot of our culture.

Raise your hand if you have ever scrawled
O Z Z Y
across your 4 fingers
I have not, but I think I will this weekend when I see my BFF who moved to Idaho and will be here. He is a huge Black Sabbath / Ozzy fan too and I am sure it will bring him a smile.

Snortin' ants and eatin' bats... he was one of a kind. :laughing
