Rocksmith - Learn to play guitar game..

The game came with stickers to label the fret positions. I got bored while waiting for the game to download, so I just put them on.

OK, this is absolute bullshit!!! I finally finished downloading the PC version, and it is forcing me to create another account on another fucking game server. You apparently cannot just play the fucking game off line. Well, I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

OK, i figured it out and started playing. Man, this thing is addicting!

But, the PC version is such the pain in the ass to set up, and I'm not 100% sure that this game didn't load a bunch of bullshit stuff on my laptop.

Just standard frustration followed by excitement once I got through the fucked up setup.

Oops I forgot to mention the BS involved with setting it up the first time.

Once I got it running all was forgiven. I love this thing :thumbup

It's been a while since I practiced until my fingers were totally sore. So far this thing is living up to its billing. :thumbup

It's really cool how intuitive the software is. When you play a song, it starts out easy, but if you do well, it slowly starts adding more complicated stuff until you mess up then it automatically goes down to easier stuff again. It challenges you without frustrating the heck out of you.

Humbucker on a strat = perfect working mans guitar. Only 1 guitar needed for the gig. You can do about every top 40 song with that setup.

I know some serious pros that use those.

Or you could just play a tele.

$108 for:
- rocksmith 2014 (xbox306 or ps3 available, windows version is sold out everywhere in the bay area).
- the cable/adapter
- guitar (Maestro by Gibson 6String FullSize SingleCutaway Electric Guitar White)

$50 for the game+cable. $50 for the guitar. plus tax.

couldn't stop myself and got one. it'll probably sell out pretty fast.

worst case it'll be fun to mess around for a month, get bored and sell everything for $50.

had wednesday off so set it up and played an hour or two.
knew absolutely zero about guitars but was plucking away at 2 of the 6 strings:)laughing). still fun because i could see noticeable improvement from song to song.
even if you paid full price for the software and guitar it'd be worth it.

one other thing; i had owned an acoustic guitar for years which i never bothered tuning and didn't even play once. you research online and there's so much info i didn't even know where to start (paralysis by analysis i guess).
rocksmith really lowered the barrier and made it simple to start playing.
i also like that the commercials say they don't care how you play, just that you play. you see a lot of experienced musicians saying you have to do things a certain way and intimidating beginners, but we just want to fuck around and have a bit of fun learning something new. we don't really care if we're any good.

I think I need this. I have this cool Yamaha RGX 12125 I got from Corndog that makes great noise. Maybe it can make music. I just kinda do Pentatonic scales now. And try to learn some licks from tabs on the web...
