Rossi had some great performances this year when he would make a mistake and fall from 1st/2nd to 7-10th and somehow get back on the podium......no way that was all Rossi....his bike was something special also.
Are you kidding. Are you forgetting that most times (except for Catalunya) all the people Rossi caught up to were ridding the same bike (Sete, Biaggi and Hayden all ride the same RCV more or less).
Following your argument; you are saying that Rossi's bike was 10 to 15 seconds better than everybody else. 1 second is a lifetime on a race track, imagine 10 to 15 seconds.
Fine, I agree the Honda is a great bike, maybe one of the best bikes ever (better than anything in the past), but please don't dismiss Rossi as "He is better because his bike was that much better".
No one ever has won the 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP championships (nobody will ever be able to either, because the 500cc bikes are no longer run).
Also, remember the 2000 season. Rossi almost won the championship on his FIRST year. There aren't too many people that come into the 500cc championship and finish second on their first year (King Kenny won it, but he too is one of the greatest).
Lastly, Rossi has a lot of balls. Why didn’t mighty Mick switch to Yamaha when he raced? I’m not saying Mick wouldn’t have won on Yamaha, but I’m saying he didn’t so we’ll never know. Rossi on the other hand is at least taking that gamble. While I can safely say that Rossi will not come and start winning right away, I have seen Rossi race enough times to know that he can do things on a bike that people only dream of. He can squeeze that extra 10th of a second almost on command. Imagine what he will be able to do now that he wants to prove to everybody that it’s not the bike, but the rider.
Don’t bet against Rossi, you’ll never win.
