Not good. My fiance's dad near Chula Vista might have to be evacuated and I just heard they're relocating animals from the zoo.

Good luck down there.
 
I had two of my friends evacuated and another is standing by. Best of luck to all those so cal folks.

My office is all a buzz right now cuz we have A LOT of houses we insure down there and its really bad.

San Diego, Malibu, I wish everyone the best cuz this year is a bad bad year for fires. Everything is so terribly dry. :(

My brother lives in Topanga Canyon just South of Malibu. Scary time.
 
Ugh. Yeah, this is very sad. I lived in San Diego for 7 years. San Diego is like home to me. :(

A good friend of mine lives in the middle of one of the evacuated areas, as does her mom and two brothers.

I have a bit of family down there, too. So far, family is ok but I think my friend had to go elsewhere. I am unable to get a hold of her.

Evidently the fire jumped all ten lanes of I-15. :shocker

Evacuations continue to roll in... I fear it will get worse before it gets better.

Topanga Canyon is actually north of Malibu, but whatevs.

My ex's sister and BIL lost their house in north San Diego County 3 (or was it 4?) years ago, and now the evacuation zone is bearing down on them. Damn.
 
A friend of mine that lives in Ventura took this picture yesterday afternoon at the beach down the street from her house...

Have you guys ever been there? :laughing Topanga park starts at the beach south of 'bu.
 
Yep. Went for many a moto ride through Topanga.

The only thing "south of Malibu" -- in a strictly geographical sense -- is the Pacific Ocean.

It's a wiggly coast line but if you drive up the cost from say, Santa Monica, you will pass Topanga Canyon on the right. Keep going for another 20 minutes and you'll hit the pier and all that in Malibu.

pfftt.....fine. If you are driving on the only road that runs along the coast you go South to North to get there.
