...do these things???

I've always worked construction or in a moto shop or...some place where exposed toes just doesn't work. So i just never had sandals of any kind. I even thought it was spelled sandles. But my wife bought me some of those non thong type that velcro in a few places and dared me to try them. So for the last few days I've been wearing them as long as I'm not working.

My feet have never been this filthy, rough and vulnerable! Is this how you sandal people exist?

Its not been easy, and I've obviously exposed a new weakness, or phobia in myself. Maybe both. :loco I now find myself even more contemptuous of you heathens, and wonder if anyone thinks things through anymore. The lack of concern for others, your personal hygiene, and your own general below the knee wellness is a sign of how bad things have become. :laughing

PS - Its fucking hot up here and im going to keep wearing them because they are admittedly much cooler. This doesnt mean im wrong, just a hypocrite. :teeth

Do you wear sandles 24/7? Do you were those thong things??!!! The horror...

Ha, been going through the same. Trying to wear them all the time and my feet are a mess right now. Got that horseshoe ring of cracks around the heel, bottom of my feet are stained from dirt, these things are stupid.

Obviously you guys aren't swimming often enough.
Sandal season = in the water every day season = happy feet.

Ive only ever owed a couple pair of sandals and even those were just worn a few times.
I was noticing men at the airport yesterday in flip flops, that just seems ignorant.

i would love to wear my birks everyday but sexist workplace policies prevent this, unless i identify as a woman...

White socks after Memorial Day, duh....

EDIT: I need a pair of these.

It gets worse with your feet drying out as you get older :afm199

I Vaseline my feet every morning before putting on socks. And foot cream every night.
I can only go barefoot a few hours a day.

don't wear sandals on a daily basis if you don't want cracked and dry skin. and they have no arch support!

but don't deprive yourself. break them out one day of the weekend, enjoy them every so often.

i recommend keen brand sandals but that's just becuz i am brand loyal :)

Yeah, "bitchy" doesn't count, does it? :laughing

nope, otherwise i'd be wearing them every monday :laughing

i blame our computer guy, i bet he has a nicely 'aged' pair that stunk up the whole office :rofl

ban bad smells, not all birks make eyes bleed!:(

I have been wear sandals only for the past 15-20 years. Rain, snow, don't matter I hop between puddles. Only put on sneakers if I want to hike somewhere or ankle high boots for more rugged stuff. My feet run hot and they will bake in anything but sandals. I do wear summer type Bates boots (with my own perforations for extra cooling) when I ride but the instant I get to my destination, off they go and on go the sandals.

I wear ankle socks (Pumas) and Cabellas sandals. I can provide a link if interested. I do not do split-toe sandals, they chafe between the big toe and the next one.

Yeah, not a fan of sandals, myself, but I do like the mesh sneakers that have become rather ubiquitous these days.

I switched from sandals to espadrilles (no socks). They probably look kinda hipster which is a bad thing, but the benefit is that the material is super thin, sometimes even mesh, so they stay cool, don't have the sweaty spots where the bands are, and your feet stay clean. Can't comment on drying out because I don't have that issue with normal sandals.

Also if you are prone to a lot of walking on somewhat rough ground, they aren't going to be a good bet. The soles do not block any feel at all.

For realsies? Because water generally isn't a good moisturizer, as funny as it sounds. But if that's all it takes, I could just step in the kiddie pool a few times throughout the day.

I don’t wear them unless I am walking from my hotel room to the pool. Hence I don’t have any.

When we was 13 my first martial arts instructor would step on your feet if you showed up to class in them.

“You must arays be leady to lun or fight!” That sunk in so it has always been boots or tennis shoes. Add in the fact that I think feet are generally ugly and I have swothed my path in life.

not all feet are ugly. my hunneeeez perfect uncalloused feet could qualify him for a commercial :)

I really love modern sports sandals but haven't learned how to adjust them so I don't end up with horrible calluses if I wear them for any length of time.

Also pedicure FTW

I grew up on the beach in southern California. Sandals are a part of life. Reef is my brand and I own many and will likely continue to do so for many years to come. I don't always wear them, but at home I generally do whether it's winter or not. I don't really like driving in them and can't understand how people don't think that's unsafe...at least in the standard thong versions.
