SENA speaker replacements

I wish they focused on making a more quality product rather than adding useless features.

PREACH

their big release this month was audio sharing with a group of people. Meanwhile it still takes 30 minutes and a prayer to connect 3 or more people and the app still looks like it was made in 2007.

I thought about upgrading my 10S but then I got a Cardo and it is far better. Check it out.

Only problem is it can be a chore connecting if all your buddies have one brand of communicator and you're the odd one out. I think one day people will realize how much Sena sucks and switch over.

The challenge here is that all my friends and my wife are all on Sena. Would love to toss this bloated piece of shit but it looks like I have to live with it.

I'm interested in this as well.

I spent a couple hours looking for a better alternative for the speakers that come with most helmet mounted systems, but just couldn't find anything adequate.

For now, I’m using earbuds. Speakers would be a little easier (not a lot), but the earbuds sound good and block maybe 3/4 of the noise ear plugs would.

Sena vs. Cardo

Android vs. Apple

I was a Cardo user who swapped to Sena. Never had an Apple but a similar debate in my mind

I love when I can hardly hear my music, then it stops and my 20s starts repeating, "say a command".

Favorite feature, by far.

I had a Sena 10R and now have a 30K. With both, I've found that the placement of the speakers is critical.

I've found that putting them inside the cheek pads between the foam and the fabric that touches my ears just in front of my ears yields the best results.

Will wait for you to try before I decide what speakers to order. Looking forward to the review!
Me too. The rating looked good, especially when compared to all of the others that I could find on there. I hope they work out well!

we'll see - i added the small padding to my Arai to push the speakers closer to my ears - it's definitely improved vs. no padding but i still have to turn them all the way up with plugs on and the quality quite frankly sucks. I'm just not looking to drop another $100 on this (the set up i have is good enough) but $40 for even marginal improvement would be worth it. Stay tuned...Thanks for the find Brett!

Thanks for this. Just ordered them. Will try this weekend.

+ 3 or 4 on letting us know how they work. I did the 2.0 update and moved the Sena 30K to a new helmet (Arai). Maybe the speakers are better aligned but much better than in my Shoei.

It's not really the same.

Apple users don't shit on Apple devices generally.. because the features that Apple sells mostly work, unlike Sena.

My SMH10 Sena has the speakers integrated in to the blue tooth set.

I have a 10C, and it's the same deal. I like the set overall, but with earplugs, I have a hell of a time hearing anything at all, with both the phone and the headset volume dialed way up. I'd really love to switch over to noise isolating earbuds, but it looks like cutting and splicing is the only way?

Well I'm an android user and I don't do much with my phone either....I'm not that smart :rolleyes

I also have the 20S and one of my speakers was blown so I was forced to change them out. I entertained earbuds but found that isn't my thing, I just wanted speakers and I wear earplugs more often than not. Even when the 20S speakers were new I wasn't impressed with them.

I did the ADVRider search and read far too much there and general reviews on other sites. Ultimate I decided on the iASUS XSound 3 High Definition Helmet Speakers. Yes they were $110ish far too costly but I decided that was the route for me. Simple swap and install.

I am beyond pleased and plan on getting the same pair for a second helmet. They put out MUCH more sound than the stock ones did with amazingly better quality and clarity. I don't come close to full volume even when wearing earplugs. They just kickass :thumbup

I went this route as well. I ride with Etymotic or Eargasm ear plugs all the time and wanted a boost to get close to audiophile level (which will probably never happen). I used in-ear monitors (earbuds) before, mainly, but wanted to get away from all that comes with it.

I have a duo of Packtalk bold with 40mm drivers; their okay but I wanted better. I bought the Xsound 2 at first because they were amazon prime and I was impatient. They weren't much of an upgrade so I decided to buy the XSound 3 from the Iasus website ($100 instead of on amazon for $110). Much, much better. Now we talkin....but it has potential to be better.

I noticed the Xsound 3 have a higher impedence so I bought a small portable mini amp (Fii0 A1) to drive them. It worked perfectly! Bass actually booms, even around 60+mph, mids are above average, and highs are clear. I don't have to go above 80% of max volume any more.

The xsound2 with the amp, although, are not great--they aren't capable drivers.

I tinkered a lot to get this sound. I'll post some pics of my setup, if y'all like.

You're right in that they do need to be up to your ears to be able to hear anything at all. But even then I have to run them at max volume (still not enough) and get zero bass and some noticeable distortion.

Go into the settings via the app and turn on the "loud" setting or something similar. It's default off for safety but after changing it I can't have it on max volume, it's too loud.
