Amazing that there were only 2 fatalities. Passenger accounts of what happened, and aviation experts opinions do point to pilot error. I thought that the NTSB would be the first ones to interview the flight crew and pilots, but since this is an international carrier, their policies and procedures might be different.

But pilot interviews and the black box recorder analysis should be able to piece together a good timeline and exactly what happened.

Evidently police were throwing up knives to the crew to cut passengers loose! :wtf

Some damned brave folks involved.

The picture of the lady with her carry on rolling luggage is a bit disturbing though.

How many flights happened worldwide since the last crash?

Chicago prob had 1,000 homicides last year, headline at bottom is kind of interesting.

I looked and that plane was prob $300M to buy. Whoops!!!

Try 500

Live update from NTSB said pilot called for a "go around" 1.5 secs before the plane crashed. Too late. :(

:rose :rose

Makes it sound like it was a mechanical problem.

Nahh.

Turbine lag == 8-12 seconds before the engines really respond.

If you misunderestimate things, and only realize it a couple of seconds before impact, it's too late.

So far, everything says pilot error..at bozo level.

Too low, too slow, and that should be un-excusable.

I hear the Asiana Stewardess's are excellent though.

Have any professional, large-scale airline pilots chimed in yet? I really don't want to wade through the google "I got this" crowd.

(Been out in the woods for a few days, so I'm catching up. Don't want to waste time)

I've flown Asiana's 747 combi's to Seoul a few times. Yes on the hawt and they base the american chick in uniform count on the manifest. More yanks, more so cal blondies serving the BimBop Beef.

I'll jump on the too low too slow bandwagon. The driver may have been lost without the glide slope to guide him in as he set the descent on the computer perhaps from memory or based on what ATC told him. His bad for not checking it every few seconds. Once the panel lit up and warnings blared it was too late as he burbled on the stall.

That front office ain't gonna be flying commercial any more. Hope they enjoy shuttling freight in Caravans for the next 15 years.
