Shark Helmets

Crash tested a RSI to good effect. Currently rocking the RSR2 and lusting after a Sykes replica. Fit is most important.

Shark helmets are made in France. I bought Shark Evoline helmet a few years ago. The only problem was parts. A screw vibrated loose and fell out. I bought the helmet at Cycle Gear Hayward. They tried to get a replacement screw but couldn't so they ended up exchanging the helmet with a brand new one.

I'll give 'em a try next time I'm down there, thanks.
I don't believe they carry Shark anymore because the US distributor dropped out a while ago. Last few times I was there helmet shopping, I didn't see any. You might want to call ahead to ask. Might save you a trip.

Had an RSR2. Awesome helmet, fortunately never had to crash test it.

My understanding is the have a new stronger distributor. Most of the major websites carry them as well.

I have a Vision R and I dislike it. The fitting is terrible (Sizes are all over the place) and the inner lining never goes back into place once removed to clean the first time.

Good luck on trying to find one locally, a lot of people dropped them after the distributor problem, I suggest finding a different helmet.

I have always used Road racing at home in Ireland as a way of judging helmets and Sharks are pretty popular and the medical team have some examples from nasty crashes where people survived and they're impressive. Scary, but impressive. If the fit suited me, I'd happily have one.

I owned the shark RSI when it first came out years ago, great helmet and even took a crash weeks after buying it. Only thing i didn't like was the egg shape it gave me, seemed too large while fitting my head.

Road Rider in San Jose, I believe, although it's four years since I've been in there and their website is a bit flakey.

Unfortunately, unless something changed in the last 3 weeks, they don't. Well not really.

I've been lusting after a Sykes replica but have been afraid to pull the mail-order trigger what with wearing Arai for years.

I was down at Road Rider about a month ago for boots and while there asked if they carried Shark. They had just a couple of older models that were there basically cause no one had ever wanted the last couple, nothing more. Certainly nothing like the Race R or Speed whatever.

I sure would like to try some current models on somewhere.

Anything is better than the shit Arai helmets, which are overpriced and fly to pieces at the drop of a hat. Flame on, please.

Some sites carry them. No local distribs.

So crash tested?

very true. there are some who would argue that a SNELL ratings could be more dangerous for the rider that a DOT or ECE

Ahhhh noooooo..... snell vs dot? I dont care I just want it to protect my giant melon.
