Dam I started a monster! you guys have fun I sighted in last night 3 shots in 1 inch at 100 yd. lifted for a 300 yd shot!
I'm off next thursday for an antalope hunt.

Lucky bastard... I wanna blast some antalope. Never been hunting before. I think I may take it way too far though. I'd have war paint on, w/ a Rambo hunting knife, 2 side arms w/ an MP5, 2 foot machette (sp?), use combat hand signs, and out of the blue holler "RPG!!!" that, or if I see a rabbit in the distance, I could always yell, "It's headed right for us!!" :laughing

Alright, alright... Gun check time... What are you packin'?

HK .357sig (USPc)
HK .45 (USP)
Beretta Elite II 9mm
Ruger P89 9mm

This is strange, are people attracted to the same hobbies or what? A few minutes after posting in the noobie forum I see posts about shooting!

I'm with California Gunsports and the SJ Zouaves. I shoot CMP matches, USPSA Action Pistol, IDPA, Tactical Rifle, Tactical Pistol, and 3-Gun.

I'm strictly into action shooting though, shooting at static targets from a static position gets boooorrrriiiiiinnnnggg. Although I occassionally stop by Reed's or Jackson's a couple of times a month.

If anybody is interested, my club (CGS) teaches ITP (Introduction to Tactical Pistol) at the 10th St range in San Jose at least once a month. Usually the 2nd Saturday of the month. Class starts at 5:30PM and lasts until 7PM, then we'll start shooting stages through 11PM. We'll teach you how to properly draw from a holster, present to your target, shoot on the move, using cover and concealment, tactical reload, etc. All this for $10 a night :) Your bring your own gun, equipment, and ammo of course.

We also do more training intensive Monday Night Defensive Pistol (every Monday Night) as well as host 3-Gun and Tactical Rifle matches at Metcalf.

Shoot me an e-mail if you're interested. It'll give me an opportunity to pick your brain about bikes too. I'll post back here when the next ITP class comes up.

I would go but sounds like my AK-47 (made in CCCR) is not welcome :x

I've shot my Bushmaster XM-15S2 (.223) at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun off Foothill Expressway by the reservoir. I think it's the Cupertino foothills. That's South Bay...

...also I think there is another outdoor range that allows high-powered rifles up on Hwy9/Skyline over by Castle Rock. I've never shot there before though.

I believe that is the Los Altos Gun Club... go up Hwy 9 from Saratoga, turn left (south) onto Skyline, its on the right hand side a ways down. Kinda hard to spot the sign though. Believe they let pretty much any rifle in there that's not a .50BMG (like most rifle ranges).

Pretty boring collection, overall
ParaOrdnance P14 (.45acp)
ParaOrdnance P12 (.45acp stainless)
Sig Sauer 220 (.45acp)
Beretta 92FS (9mm, has a laser target in place of the stock guiding rod)
Ruger Security Six (.357mag)
some .22lr six shooter, funny little piece :laughing
Ruger 10/22 (.22lr, nothing really done to it. I bought it mounted with cheapo optics on it, but can't get the fucking thing sighted in to save my life :))

Come to think of it, its been a long time since I've gone shooting. I seem to spend all my money on motorcycles...

But if anyone wants to buy me one of those Springfield Armory M1A (M14 semiauto clones), my birthday is only nine months away :twofinger :teeth

I'm the opposite way, matter of fact I was just mulling over how I could've bought a starter bike instead of that Springfield Armory M1A. LOL

If you're serious about buying one I can refer you to a guy in Texas that sells M1As for about $300-$400 lower than what the MSRP is at Bay Area gunstores. I bought my Standard from him back in April and a buddy of mine bought a Match off of him last month.

:eek :D :D I'm so interested. Count me and my bro in. We've been wanting to do something like this for a while. He wanted to go to Vegas for some gun training thing - err some crap like that.

I'll e-mail you for more info.

-Did I bring up paintballing? :confused Hehehee, I'm down for that too. I'm sure we could get enough BARFers, to maybe rent the place out. That'd be sweet.

Will do. Like I said, we usually have the training and shoot on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 5:30 to 11:00 PM so the next shoot will likely be on Sept. 14th.

If you don't already have it, I suggest you start acquiring some holsters, mag pouches, and a sturdy belt (we have loaner eyes and ears protection if you don't have them. Get a holster at the very least, if you have a Glock or a 1911 (other common guns) we can probably loan you some mag pouches. I'm assuming everyone here has at least 2 spare magazines for their pistols.

And as far as the holster goes, as a beginner, you will not be allowed to use any fancy shoulder, small of back, inside waist, ankle, basically any concealed holster is not acceptable. We do concealed-carry training too (especially in the winter months) but first you gotta prove to us you won't shoot yourself or anybody else. So just get a standard open-carry hip holster that goes on your belt. Fobus holsters (http://www.fobusholster.com/) are cheap and readily available (eBay, local gunstores) or if you think you'll be doing this on a regular basis you might want to splurge and get quality holsters like Blade Tech (http://shop.blade-tech.com/). Get at least 2 mag pouches (I recommend 4+) and a sturdy BDU belt to hold everything up and you're GTG. If you have a Surefire flashlight get a holster for that too since we also do low-light shooting occassionally (fun as hell!). Shouldn't cost you more than $40 to get holsters and mag pouches if you go cheap.

I know it sounds intimidating but it's no big deal really. And if you enjoy shooting at all you'll love running and gunning. Our instructors are all NRA certified and most are ex-military, they know their stuff. Think of ITP as your entry point into the world of Tactical and Sport Shooting. Basically if you shoot at least 3 times with us you'll have enough basic skills to start shooting sanctioned IDPA, IPSC, and USPSA matches. From ITP we can then introduce you to other fun stuff, like 3-Gun, Tactical Rifle and Tactical Shotgun courses. If you ever see those guys at the Special Purpose range at Metcalf rocking and rolling with AR15s and AK-47s, that's us.

Oh, and here's my club's website: http://cgs1999.homestead.com/gunsports.html . It hasn't been updated in years and looks/sounds like crap but most of the info in there is still accurate.

I used to do that too. But I found something even more fun, AIRSOFT!

Here's some pics of my buddies and I skirmishing:

Oh, and ignore the "ragheads" please. Those pictures were from an event we hosted around this time last year before 9/11. It was a military simulation between the forces of NATO and a moslem/arab country of Kesh. We had no idea that three weeks after the event we'd be in a war against Arabs.

Anyways, we play/host airsoft games from Monterey and all over the Bay Area, and along Highway 80 all the way up to Reno. If you're interested in this too, I'm your man, LOL.

Sweet my buddies are in BAM (Bat Area Mercs). They went to NAM 2 and came in first in the CQB Tourney I'll pass this along to them. I'm waiting to get some expenses out the way to buy a gun and join them up. It sounds like a lot of fun.

On a second note... Note to self to not piss off anyone in this thread.:D

I've heard of them but not sure who they are. I didn't go the NAM 2. But the airsoft scene in still relatively small so I probably ran into your buddies a couple of times, or, more likely, shot them or shot by them, LOL.

I used to be with the Cimmerians (http://www.cimmerians.com) but we had a minor disagreement with some of the policies so my squad broke off and formed Team 7. We now host mostly private games in the Hwy 9 area but ocassionally go to the bigger games and events.

Patrick - looks like your gun took a whiz... ;) :D :twofinger

:p That was the blue sweatshirt I propped it up with.

As for gun check, I've got the 10-22 I posted on the 1st page, and a Remington Model 34 .22 bolt action from the 1930's (hand-me-down from grandfather to father to me).

I loooooove guns!:troy

I’ve got a small arsenal I hardly ever get to play with. The class on the 14th sounds great. I’ll be there if I don’t have school at SJSU. I don’t know my new schedule yet. I’ll bring my 1911. My favorite place is Los Altos Rod and Gunn. If anyone wants to plan a trip there, I’m in. Has anyone else ever shot at 26mm, Full-auto 50cal. or M60?
:sniper :shocked

Let me guess... your prior service??? Military???? Either that or your very luck to have those little girls. I have played with these also at one time or another as well as afew others.

BUT I dont want to Basterdise this thread too bad so I'll just say YES, I have fired these weapons.

26mm? What's that?

As far as mil guns go. I've shot:

M16A2
M4A1
M203
M249
M60
M240
M24
M9
M2 Browning
Mk19 (full-auto grenade launcher)
Mortars (60mm, 81mm, 120mm, 4.2")
AT4 (a real HE round, not practice 9mm)

I think the only thing I didn't get to play with were explosives. Pulled KP when my company went through the grenade range in basic, and I was driving my LT around when our platoon went through the demolition course in Panama. Bastards got to play with plastics!!!

Well

I decline to post what I have or may not have- I'll just say I have:cool

Airsoft sounds like fun- so Scorp- who owned all the hardware- like the hummer, the LC etc. ?
