:eek
I'm so interested. Count me and my bro in.
Will do. Like I said, we usually have the training and shoot on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 5:30 to 11:00 PM so the next shoot will likely be on Sept. 14th.
If you don't already have it, I suggest you start acquiring some holsters, mag pouches, and a sturdy belt (we have loaner eyes and ears protection if you don't have them. Get a holster at the very least, if you have a Glock or a 1911 (other common guns) we can probably loan you some mag pouches. I'm assuming everyone here has at least 2 spare magazines for their pistols.
And as far as the holster goes, as a beginner, you will not be allowed to use any fancy shoulder, small of back, inside waist, ankle, basically any concealed holster is not acceptable. We do concealed-carry training too (especially in the winter months) but first you gotta prove to us you won't shoot yourself or anybody else. So just get a standard open-carry hip holster that goes on your belt. Fobus holsters (
http://www.fobusholster.com/) are cheap and readily available (eBay, local gunstores) or if you think you'll be doing this on a regular basis you might want to splurge and get quality holsters like Blade Tech (
http://shop.blade-tech.com/). Get at least 2 mag pouches (I recommend 4+) and a sturdy BDU belt to hold everything up and you're GTG. If you have a Surefire flashlight get a holster for that too since we also do low-light shooting occassionally (fun as hell!). Shouldn't cost you more than $40 to get holsters and mag pouches if you go cheap.
I know it sounds intimidating but it's no big deal really. And if you enjoy shooting at all you'll love running and gunning. Our instructors are all NRA certified and most are ex-military, they know their stuff. Think of ITP as your entry point into the world of Tactical and Sport Shooting. Basically if you shoot at least 3 times with us you'll have enough basic skills to start shooting sanctioned IDPA, IPSC, and USPSA matches. From ITP we can then introduce you to other fun stuff, like 3-Gun, Tactical Rifle and Tactical Shotgun courses. If you ever see those guys at the Special Purpose range at Metcalf rocking and rolling with AR15s and AK-47s, that's us.
Oh, and here's my club's website:
http://cgs1999.homestead.com/gunsports.html . It hasn't been updated in years and looks/sounds like crap but most of the info in there is still accurate.

Did I bring up paintballing?
I used to do that too. But I found something even more fun, AIRSOFT!
Here's some pics of my buddies and I skirmishing:
Oh, and ignore the "ragheads" please. Those pictures were from an event we hosted around this time last year before 9/11. It was a military simulation between the forces of NATO and a moslem/arab country of Kesh. We had no idea that three weeks after the event we'd be in a war against Arabs.
Anyways, we play/host airsoft games from Monterey and all over the Bay Area, and along Highway 80 all the way up to Reno. If you're interested in this too, I'm your man, LOL.
