***Clarification***
I am so glad to see that so many of you want to go! I will through out some weekend dates as soon as the weather calms down and we can all decide what will work best.
For the one guy on this post rambling on about not jumping at Davis, please call me if you want to discuss. 415.596.0552. I don't want to confuse other readers with where we are going by your lengthily replies about the wrong drop zones and incorrect links. I would love to chat with you over the phone if you want to discuss creating Monterey gather at a later point.
I posted this because I wanted to take some BARFers to MY home drop zone to do tandems and enjoy a good party afterwards. I have over 700 jumps and have been to all the surrounding dropzones, including Monterey. Davis is the best for group tandems for many reasons. Don't always count of a website to tell you everything either. Having been in the sport since I was 19 and having jumped at over thirty dropzones across the country, you learn what to look for at a dropzone that makes it safe, and it sure as hell in not what's on their website. A few facts on Davis for you…
They are an extremely safe DropZone, with an owner that has been in the sport for years and is very well known and respected. Additionally, their packers have been there for years and do an excellent job on reducing any risk in malfunctions.
The have the best ground crew including manifest and packers that are extremely organized, and ensure all the tandems get completed in one day with less waiting time.
They have great equipment and lots of it maximizing safety and time efficiency for large groups.
They have the world's first state of the art plane built just for skydiving that is brand new, safe, and gets to altitude in about half the time as most planes in the Bay area.
They are not considered a "tandem factory" as many other dropzones are, where they are just rushing people thought a five minute brief and on to the jump, but rather take the time to educated you on what you are about to do. Additionally, they count the tandem in their learning package so that if you ever wanted to continue, you could have it count towards your license process.
They experienced jumpers that are their every weekend are a blast, very helpful, and promote safety. They are not squidly as are many dropzones, making risky choices and putting others in danger.
The give great group rates, and will totally hook us up as soon as I can give them an accurate number of people, which is all I am trying to figure out right now.
I appreciate your enthusiasm to be involved and I am glad you want to continue jumping! But please keep in mind what this post is…. Me organizing a fun trip to my fun, safe, competitively priced dropzone for my new BARFer friends, and not a debate on where we should skydive. Again, if you want to go anywhere else, any other time, I would love to meet you and take you down there. I am sure I can introduce you to many people and we could have a good time, and I can educate you and point out the differences on the different dropzones, and what you should be looking for.
Thanks for you understanding and feel free to call me. 415.596.0552.
Everyone else…it looks like we have 15 or so people now, so let me see what kinda pricing and dates we are looking at!
