Stock Thread 2018

Geez, the dead cat bounced all over the place today before collapsing a little deeper into the grave. I'd give my left nut if Powell would raise the benchmark a full percent overnight.

How long before Powell is on the chopping block?

The dotard doesn't really have the power. While the president nominates the governors and picks the chairman, it would be near impossible for him to get any changes through and get senate approval. If the President did anything more than the whining he's doing right now, he'd be toast politically and would be abandoned by even some of his staunchest allies.

I find his comments the height of his mental illness though, given what he, rightly, said pre-election, i.e., that the Fed was erring in keeping interest rates artificially low and that our equity markets had basically become a ponzi scheme.

This is why I got out of equities last year. There is an impending correction around the corner. Folks need to get out why the getting is good. Dont think that the markets will keep going up unimpeded.

Given that this hasn't been a normal bull market (which, incidentally, is the longest in history), this doesn't feel like a correction to me. It feels more like the start of an overdue bear market.

Bull markets end. This particular one is a bubble, built on years of artificial stimulus, fantastic valuations, false narrative and not-so-comfortable numbness.

Buy Gold!

Or, on the other hand, it indicates the actual inflation of the dollar and rational valuation of stocks.

Edit: quoted the wrong message.

I did that too, but I think I made a big mistake given how much of upside I have lost.

It all depends on what equities you had and if they are up or down now. Had I held onto companies like sprint, I would be hating life right now. I did miss out on the rise in Amazon in the last year. My thing is that you cannot time the market and should just use good ta. I am absolutely fine with my decision. I hope some of you can exit at a good point when the market tanks. Markets will get rekt. Be ready. Good luck.

I had multiple variations of broad market index (vangaurd mostly). Did not pick specific stocks at all.

Tesla is my second to last individual stock. Might go ahead and unload it, I'm still in the black over the last couple years. I'm in some aggressive tech funds, so I still have exposure to FANG/T, and most of the allocation is broad domestic and international indexes.

And about 20% in cash, which has been a nice buffer.
