Stock Thread 2018

It all depends on what equities you had and if they are up or down now. Had I held onto companies like sprint, I would be hating life right now. I did miss out on the rise in Amazon in the last year. My thing is that you cannot time the market and should just use good ta. I am absolutely fine with my decision. I hope some of you can exit at a good point when the market tanks. Markets will get rekt. Be ready. Good luck.

i agree, you cannot time the market. it's all the more reason that you are comfortable with your asset allocation. it is a personal choice how much to have in equities.

what i was getting from different sources (before this past week's rollercoaster ride happened) was that 2019 is going to be more of the same as 2018. but there will be a slowdown around 2020 due to a global recession. i don't keep the forecasters/analysts keep me up at night, i just need to live with myself and my own choices.

I guess you all have heard that Coca-Cola is considering producing drinks with CBD, as traditional sugar water sales have slowed down considerably. Pepsi has no plans.

Would you consider buying Coca-Cola stock if they do go through with their plans?

month-old sep 23rd article below on Coca-Cola:

Anyone remember Horse? Three years ago he dropped out of the stock market because it was massively overvalued.

Pot stocks getting hammered today, about 5 days after Canada is officially legal. No indicators why. Hoping things turn around and some mergers and acquisitions start happening. Aurora, one of the big 3, is coming the the NYSE wednesday for whatever reason it's down today 8%.

I need to avoid checking my account for a week as the volatility is killing me.

Yeahhhhh but you don't really get into pot stocks for stability.

What are we up to ?
Glad I pulled out some early this year earning 2% on MMA account. lol

Seriously, almost all my positions are in red for 2018.

I think the dead cat may have lost its bounce and now it's just falling down the stairs. Here's hoping it's a long staircase. The market needs another 20 percent drop at least before it starts to approach reasonable valuations.

Won't crash further than this until after the holidays IMO

Nobody knows what the market will do. I've lived through several decades of market volatility. It won't stop.

If people can't live with volatility, better to stay out of it.

The market was up 8000 points since the election for no strong fundamental reason. No surprise if it cools off a bit.

Of course no one knows, thus the "IMO" in my post

We'll see a true crash, it's just a matter of when. I just doubt it will happen until next year or the year after.

I'd call Trump's corporate tax cuts a strong fundamental reason. I don't agree with them, but common sense says they did fatten net profits. While increasing the federal deficit, of course.

I suspect company share buyback had the biggest impact but 8000 points in 2 years is a bit frothy mo matter the driving force.
