Ohhh fuck I thought this was a new thread....SORRY I only looked at todays post...SORRY....

Hell, baseball isn't a sport. If you can eat while you're doing something, it's not a sport.

Baseball, golf, pool...games.

There exists car racing. So when I get in my Acura, is that a 'sport'?

There exists the Tour de France. So if I get on a bike to go to work, is that a 'sport'?

Why the hell should riding a motorcycle off the track be called a 'sport'?

I think it's just a bad idea, period; it encourages the sort of road racing / urban stunting attitude that in turn makes things dangerous for me, Mr. "I just want to ride to work / school / the nearest pretty mountain".

Yes, you /can/ treat it as a sport. But please don't, unless you're on the track or some big open out-of-the-way industrial area. :hand

I understand the spirit behind the newbie "welcome to the sport"... but please find some other phrase to use.

I agree. There is no competition involved. There is no trophy or public accolades. There is no sanctioning body that grades level of competence and holds events. Motocycling (on public roads for personal pleasure) is not a sport. Motorcycle racing is a sport.

SPORT = a : to amuse oneself : frolic. b : to engage in a sport
2a : to mock or ridicule something b : to speak or act in jest : trifle

Well it is a good thing people can think and decide for themselves rather than having one person declare law on what they can and can not say. :thumbdown

You're riding with the wrong group of guys. :teeth

The only real sanctioning body that grades level of competence and holds events is barf. :party

*edit: I think I like that last line. It might even be sig worthy.

Guys. Go for a ride or something. Shit like this only comes up when you don't spend enough time on the saddle.

Zombie threads are so 2010. :twofinger

Somebody kill or lock this please please please. It's like "Walking Dead" they keep coming back.

(Obviously, if you ARE talking about the SPORT of track racing / stunting / etc, by all means go ahead... :laughing)

Um.. thread fail!!!

its because a ex250 dont feel sporty.. (Kidding GaryJ)lol..

OP i think you should get out of our circle of motorcycle sport riding..

Acura is not a sport car. My acura = 300 hp.. still not a sport car.

road bike to work is not a sport.. mounting biking down hill = sport.

600cc and up motorcycle = sport/sporty. says so on the bike and tires.

I dont think it says so on the ex250 or the tires.:p

Ever have somebody on your personal ban list that you don't even remember?

Steve

I would refer to riding a motorcycle on the street for pleasure, as an activity.
