F4i is like getting a Honda Civic compared to the others.
cheap, simple, reliable, average.

More voters please!!! I don't want to have a third run-off.

Gabe, the people voting for the Aprilia don't like you and want to see you suffer.

They are f-ing killing me.
But here's the thing--are they considering that maybe the Aprilia won't look very good pitted against the insanely good value you'd get from an SV650, an F4i or even an 929? Or maybe not...in any case, it'll be a fun story to write.
I'd check a few Aprilia Forums to see if there's a "hey, join BARF and vote for Aprilia and fuck with Gabe." thread.![]()
I'm suspicious! Looks like the 929 people are catching up, though.
Where is the r6? I loved my 2000 r6

You asked two different questions. The Aprilia is the right answer to one of them.
You first asked how close can you get to modern sportbike performance with a 10 year old bike. The answer is really close from any of the 10 year old I4s. The Aprilia is not the right answer to that (nor is the RC51).
The second question you asked is what is the best value. "Value" is not necessarily performance/dollar (or if it is, you should have been clear). It's the sum of performance, design, cache, and feel between the legs... or put simply it's boner/dollar. In that respect, the Aprilia wins. Nothing else at sub $5k is going to feel as special.

I was skeptical at first, but then I did a CL search and see that there are actually more than a few Milles in California for sale under $4000. One or two of them aren't being sold by crazed meth heads and would be worth looking at, even. As good a selection as I see for the 929/954. In fact, Hondas seem to be a bit overpriced.
Results are in! Mille, GSXR750 and 929!
