Suzuki Gladius?

that's funny. i just realized that i heard so much about this bike before it came out, then i saw some high profile "custom" Gladius builds (like that LRG one posted above), and then i saw them in the shops.

but i have yet to see one on the street.

and now that i think of it, last time i was at Golden Gate Cycles (yeah, i know, i wasn't there to buy anything), i didn't see any of the Gladii that they used to have. i'm guessing Suzuki's learned a hard lesson and that their friendly and non-threatening beginner bike was a total marketing failure.

Looks like it. I just revisited the Gladys website, it has been totally redone. I am sure many people will remember that each color scheme for the bike had its own representative hipster accompaniment.

The silver/blue bike's hipster looked like some euro-disco coke-head in silver pants. The photos where of the bike in mid-air with splashes of water. Unbelievable. All the collage was missing was a dolphin doing a backflip.

The only interesting thing about the Gladius is the cams and valve springs.

Check out this one...:cool

Hm. They dealt with the aesthetics of all the ugly plastic add-ons by...adding on more plastic add-ons?

And then:

OUR GOALS

1. IMPROVE HANDLING

OUR MODIFICATION PLANS

4. LOWER BIKE 30MM
12. REPLACE REAR WHEEL WITH 6 INCH RIM IN ORDER TO GET 190/200 REAR TYRE

Hmm. Less cornering clearance and slower steering. Sounds like just the ticket to "improve handling."

I kinda dig the styling, but recognize it as a typical Japanese copycat design of a beautifully-made European model.

That oil filter placement always bothered me about the design, though.

it's in a similar location on my 929, although behind the header. same place on a 2nd gen SV as well...
