Tai Chi ideas, push hands

Oh no somebody on the Internet disagrees with me.

Tony why not come train with me (not from me but with me) for week and see what you are missing. It is a lot of fun and I bet you will learn something from it that you can add to your training. I am currently a student of JKD, FMA and CSW and you are more then welcome to come check it out. That goes for anyone else. Come check it out!

where at?

So is it just me or is the guy in red jumping into the wall more than being pushed? Especially at 2:50 to 3:00.

Maybe I don't get what's going on here.

by that time he's getting the idea of how he's getting thrown and he's trying to stop it by tensing his arms so the instructor is using his tensed arm to throw him.

note the intsructor is 61 years old in this vid, I'd love to see a muay thai or MMA practioner that can still express he's art at 60 years old.

I'm both a Filipino and martial arts aficionado - but the techniques in that video and the overacting are crap.

im also filipino and a martial arts dude, vid is a good example of tori and an outstanding uke. :teeth

every martial art is good for what it was created for. - yoda.

theres a time and place where styles have purpose.
if u cant see that then u have still a long way to go young padawan.

Storm I am training at Tandez Academy. It's pretty laid back and there are no meat heads. Sifu makes sure of this and pretty much weeds out the folks that shouldn't be there. His name is Adrian Tandez and the website is jkdkickboxing.com. JKD is cool and I enjoy all the trapping but I am in love with FMA. The different ranges, different weapons and how to defang a snake, climbing the vine etc etc. FMA pushed me into CSW which is Erik Paulson's version. I am new to it but learning fast. I am so new to it I might be wrong in this but it seems more like Shooto then cage mma stuff. The reason I say this is because we are learning shooto points with elbows and there is a japanese salute at the beginning and end of each class. I am only one week in.

A few months ago Atillo Balintawak came by and did a 2 day seminar. I wasn't able to go but everyone said it was intense and fun. It is amazing to see someone of that age still kick so much butt and still be able to teach it. Here is a video of Dan Inosanto and Atillo Balintawak playing around.

When I joined up I didn't know anything about knife fighting but was encouraged to attend and compete in the Cold Steel competition down in LA. I competed with around 15 hours of training and got served but we did take first place in knife, second in staff and third in sword. I learned a lot from that and it put me in my place in terms of what I thought I could do and I had even more respect for the people that have been training for so long.

If you are interested in training just stop on by. You can just join in the class or all the classes for that evening. As you know the first time is always free :)

Storm I am training at Tandez Academy...

I would have liked to join Tandez but they only offer Silat on Wednesdays. I don't mind to continue with FMA but right now Silat is my interest. My preferred system in located in SF and don't feel like driving that far. :)

oh good god Silat. I got choked out with a hanky in that class. So many classes to take but I have to focus so Silat is on the side. We go over it in FMA and JKD at times. Where in SF are you taking classes?

I don't unfortunately due to the distance for now. Actually Inayan Eskrima also utilize the hanky but that is what makes FMA such a versatile MA.

Here is a vid of it from my friend Suro Jason Inay.

Have you had a chance to watch The Bladed Hand? It is a fantastic film. I also ordered "I am Bruce Lee" DVD maybe someday I can invite some of the BARF MA folks to watch it.
